Does anyone make a 100 gr. varmit bullet (i.e., high BC and fragible)? If not, why not? This would be good for those of us who have a standard 10 twist bbl but want the max BC to shoot at LR chucks, etc.

Richard Graves can make one for you. Contact him at [email protected]. He is a custom bullet maker that will work with you to create the bullet you need at a very reasonable price. He may be busy (farmer, welder and bulletsmith) but he will respond.

Hornady makes a 105gr A-Max which would work great for your intended use. However, 243 bullets of this length need a faster twist to stabilize them.

Many shooters use the 87gr V-Max for longer range or windy conditions. I always liked the 70gr & 80gr Ballistic Tips in my 6mmAI. Groundhog kills out to 750 yards were made with both of these bullets.

I've been loading these up. sierra 100 spbt's They are about the cheapest high bc I could find. They are not explosive, but I can get 3000 fps with good groups

Bullet Name Diameter inches Weight grains Sectional Density Ballistic Coefficients
.243 dia. (6mm) 100 gr. SBT .243 100 .242 .430 @ 2800 fps and above
.419 between 2800 and 2200 fps
.397 between 2200 and 1700 fps
.385 @ 1700 fps and below

Thanks guys, thats my deer bullet. I was wondering why not use it for LR varmits. I've been using IMR4064 (36.2 gr) with .75 in. groups. I'm almost out. Any load suggestions. How bout H4831 SC? They seem to sell a bunch of it at the local supply house.

I've been using 45.2 gr. of h4831sc in front of a cci200 primer without any pressure signs. I've also tried r-22, H414, and H4350. All of them very accurate right at 3000 fps out of my Rem 700

I just for the heck of it went out to the hodgdon web site and this is what they have to say. They are using @50,000 c.u.p. which is really mild. I'm probably closer to 54,000
