Second season over the counter public land in Colorado. My first elk hunt, and it was a do it yourself. I've know several people who have not been able to say this. Sometimes it just comes together. He is not a giant, but I was pretty humbled and blessed that I was able to fill my tag the first time out. 30 Nosler 215 Berger 455 yards.

I saw this guy multiple times during bow season. Could never quite get a clear shot. Opening morning of gun he walks right to me.

No pictures, but shot a 4X4 whitetail last Saturday. 185 yards, not a long range shot. Browning BLR in 243 caliber. Shot offhand, because there were no trees close. Boring old 90 grain Speer Hotcore bullet. Going back out after Thanksgiving to get a doe with the .30 Herrett if all goes well.

A few of mine, nothing huge on any of them but the elk was a first for me taken 2nd season in Colorado. Mule deer was also 2nd season Colorado. Antelope was taken in Wyoming with a couple of buddies that are so good I probably don't deserve 2 friends like that and my furthest kill to date at 920 yards. All taken with 7mm Sherman max and 175 bergers.
And she'll never see this comment but enormous shout out to my wife for being understanding and supportive that it's never about the harvest and always about the journey. It's a lot running the kids around while I'm gone and I'm truly blessed to have her.
