195 gn Bergers

Gents,

I finally got 7 STW after a long 18 month wait(long story and I'm not happy). I've got it loaded with 81 gn of retumbo (82 I saw slight ejector pin marks) and am getting about 2975 FPS. I have a krieger 1:8 twist, 26" with a custom break. Anyone getting similar results? I keep reading about guys with the nosler 28 getting 3100 FPS. My questions is how do I get a little more speed out of my rig? Different powder? I hear good thing about RL 33. Or is it because I'm limited to my box magazine? I don't think that would hurt me. Anyway, I like the groups I'm getting I just thought I'd be getting a little faster speeds. Let me know your thoughts/loads.

You will get a little more speed without pressure with N570. Not sure if you will get to 3100 but close.

I could with my STW but my 9 twist just could not get the MOA below 1.

You will love the gun and what you can do with it.

If you are using a magazine of any sort that is limiting you. How much? That's hard to tell but with the base of a 195 at the neck shoulder junction I doubt you would be able to get the round in even the Wyatt's extended internal box.

Try N570, I'm getting 3300fps with 168 and 3175fps with 180VLD hunting tips. You should be able to push them close to that speed. Only after your barrel is broken in (60 -75 rounds down the tube).

if you are loading close to that box max coal you should be able to get more out of it than that. What Brass are you using?

I know I currently have remington brass and I am getting pressure sings at very mild loads with the 180s. When this brass wears out I plan to get norma and hope I can get better out of that.

and that is with just a tiny bit longer than Saami length. Also you would likely get more speed with vv570 or RL 33 or RL 50.

Find your most accurate load and don't worry about speed. Speed burns barrels.

You might want to give H1000 a try and see if you can get away from the pressure problems.

You probably have a 3.825 wyatts internal mag box. They do make close to 4.100 now. How far are you off lands the the mag box you have around .090?

I don't have the exact measurement off the lands yet, but I do know it is quite a long ways. Also you are correct I have the 3.8" wyatts box. I really wish I had the bigger internal box.

I believe they are around $90-$125 installed on average cost. It will most likely bring the efficiency up in your rifle. My 300 Rum was 3.100 base to ogive shooting 90 grains h1000 @ 3086 fps with a berger 215. I then learned they wouldnt fit in the 3.825 box I had so I pushed em in to clear mag box. Doing this I lost psi and lost speed. I had to load up to 92 grains to get back my accuracy and lost speed. I would guess it will work the same for your scenario.

Will that extended box fit my stiller predator action? If it does, I think that would increase my performance quite a bit.
