I have a custom who is looking for a 190 Berger load to use in his McMillan Tac-300
in 300 Win Mag. As stated in the title, we use a 1-11" twist in a 24" barrel. We don't have any experience with such a load so if I can get some feed back for my customer I would aopreciate it.

Great combination, I use to have a std. Ruger SS Hawkeye in .300WM and shot Berger 185gr VLD's and my hunting buddy had a Savage (I think) and he used Berger 190gr VLD's. Both loads were 3.375" oal, my primer was cci 250, my load was 78.0gr's Alliant RL-25, his was 77.0gr's of Alliant RL-25. Velocities of both loads in my rifle averaged 2890fps for the 185's and 2850fps for the 190's, also both grouped real well!!!
Good luck, I don't think you will be disapointed.:)

Kelley, here is my go to load.
300 winny, ruger 77, 26" pac nor 1-12 twist barrel.
190 berger, 71.0 grains IMR 4831, 2943 fps. COAL 3.375 (fits in magazine)
Fed 215M primers, nosler brass. Always shoots under half an inch.

I use Federal brass, set the 190s .010" off the lands if magwell will accommodate, then my go to for pills under 200 is Imr4350 or H4831sc, with 4350 start at about 68grns with a fed210, or start with 75grns 4831 sc with fed215s, these are tame, just work up from there, RE22 and 25 are very accurate and speedy powders (4831 will keep up) but alliant powders are sensative and sometimes finky.

I'm usually the one going with rl series and advocating their powders, but with a 190 in a 300 win you can't go wrong with h1000. Hodgdon #26 shows 82 grains as max and it shot great in my lh 300 win I had. I wish I still had that rem.
