150gr badlands BD2 280ai

FWIW. The last 2 280AI's I built only liked 4831SC. Different barrels as well. I use BD2's in .264's to .308's. This customer wanted to shoot Barnes 145 LRXBT which should be getting close to the 150 BD2's. 60g of H4831SC got around 3045 fps with nice groups. We tried RE 22 but the groups were just under 1" but the speed jumped to 3175. RE 23 should be better than RE 22. I hope this helps somewhat.

The honey do list kept me from the range today. It's tough to come up with excuses for the wife when I'm retired and she is still working. In hindsight, I wish I would have had the chamber throated a little longer. The Sta Ball 6.5 leaves plenty of room for powder. The H4831SC shows great accuracy and fill with the AB's and HH, but I'm always looking for just a little more speed if I can get it. By the time I'm through trying all the combos, I will probably burn the barrel out. Then I get to start all over. Life is good!

A bit out of line, but using the 140 gr. Absolute Hammer and H-100V I'm getting 3,250 fps in my 24" 280 Ackley. Got pressure and heavy bolt at 3,360 and backed off. Very accurate to 200 yds and will see if it holds to 5-600 yds.
I tried the 140 absolute hammers in my 280 and got great speeds but poor accuracy. Are you crimping them? I may go back and try them again with a crimp

I use a 1/4 turn crimp with mine. H100V and Petersen brass gets me 3300 FPS out of a 23" IBI CF 1-7.5" twist. Only shot it out to 600 so far. Held 3/4 MOA.

Mark, if you really need more FB can be EASILY done with a throater. Just go in small baby steps.

I just got back from the range with the intent on running one round ladder to find pressure on the BD2's using Sta Ball 6.5. The MS on the Wiser mount would not get one single reading today. I got frustrated and just pulled it off. I was at a 100 yard max range so I just did some shooting of the HH143's I had with me. It's tough to get a feel for performance without measuring velocity at 100 yards, but it never hurts to get a little trigger time. The vapor trails always add a little entertainment.

The throater would probably be a good idea. I break into a sweat thinking about it though.

Well I was able to go to the range today with my 280AI.

I shot the 2, 3 shot groups at the same target at 200 yards with H-4831, 55.2grains. Velocity was at 2,725-2,735FPS. Was using CCI BR-2 primers.

Nice groups. I am hoping for a bit more speed with the StaBall 6.5, but I can't get my Magneto Speed to work well with my suppressor. I'm in the process of buying a Labradar to eliminate this issue.

The Labrador should be on a truck. I'm waiting to shoot the BD2's. The 143HH shot well with H4831sc, but started to get faint ejector marks when I pushed it to 61 gr. Still trying different loads, but 59.5 - 60 gr seems to be the accuracy sweet spot. Two different people shot the three shot group at 59.5. The guy next to me shot the 2 touching, so I could watch the vapor trail.

Do you have any RL23 or RL26? I'm using RL26 couple of grains under max and getting just under 3100fps with .5 and a tad over consistently. There are a few fellow .280AI shooters on this forum that are getting great results from RL23. I don't know how temp stability affects your purpose. I'm loading for hunting. With accuracy you're achieving, hard to tweak but speed is addicting. H4831sc is great for my load with the 140AB's. Thanks and keep us posted.

Oops, just under 3200fps.
