I would highly suggest not going less than 8lbs. The Brux #4 is the lightest barrel I'd use. We're using a #5.

I have a few rifles under 8lbs ready to hunt. My 30 Sherman is under that and obviously harder to shoot long range but it is nice to haul around. As for barrel I would be more than likely using carbon the more I plan this out.

Yep! At 8 lbs all up (scope, fully loaded, with sling), with a good recoil pad and no brake……recoil shouldn't be too bad.
It should be a pleasure to carry……I suspect that it will be carried much more than shot!
If the velocity #'s I saw are accurate, the recoil would be respectable yes……bad -No! IMO memtb

Which velocity numbers are you referring to?
Also here is the calculated recoil by JE Customs for Mav's rifle. It's actually 9 with scope, not 8.5. The rifle has more recoil than my 338-378Wby @ 10lb-4oz (with optic) shooting a 250gr and 112gr of N570 at 3150fps and a tuned Assassin Brake by about 5ft lbs.

I run cans or brakes on everything so that take some out and I'm not super sensitive to recoil. Well I trick myself cause I shoot a lot of .223 with a brake. So muscle memory is key

I was referring to some info that I found in this thread! If I had more complete data, I think that I could run it on my program and see how the two recoil programs compare!
I said that it had respectable recoil! The 52.5 ft/lbs is, IMO respectable …..but, nothing to be feared! That's about 4.0 ft/lbs less than my rifle. If I drop my rifle weight down to 8.0 lbs….the recoil, according to my program would be 63.5 ft/lbs. That 63.5 ft/lbs is about 7 ft/lbs. more than the 56.4 ft/lbs that I currently have with my 9.0 lb. hunting rifle. When shooting it from the bench (without sling and a full magazine) it would be a bit more. Shooting from the bench, it isn't pleasant…..but certainly tolerable! When hunting……it's recoil is not an issue.
I think that I could handle the small recoil increase in recoil for a lighter rifle to carry all day in the field. However, there would be some concessions that would have to be made, concessions that I don't want to make……in order to take a pound off of it's weight. So…..I'll continue to carry that extra pound!

Just FYI, When I contacted 21st century they made a 338-375 mandrel and started selling it in their shop.

Yeah, the problem is, the price for it and the die body was astronomical. You need the smaller die body for the 30-338 mandrel and the larger die body for the 338-375 mandrel. It was way cheaper to buy the Sinclair body and .35 & .374 mandrel. Especially since I had their regular die body already that fits the 30-338 mandrel.

Stacked another this morning the Yukon. Bullet is the 300gr Chinchaga. Shot was broadside at 75-100yd, muzzle velocity 2720fps. Entrance was lower 3rd behind the shoulders, and bullet was lodged in offside hide in middle 3rd behind the shoulders. No bone was hit. Fragments destroyed her internally. Her lungs were toast, the liver was clipped, and the guts were ripped. She didn't go 40 yards. The bullet and little frag weighed 111gr. With tip, it's 136gr.
