Hunted cape buffalo and plains game in Zimbabwe / Chewore North in 2001 and 2004. Hunted out of the Big 5 Safaris camp on the Zambezi. Was incredible (also fished on the river for big Tigerfish). Not sure if you can still hunt out of that camp (I think Chifuti Safaris took it over, but they have shut down now). My PH/guide for both hunts was one of the most well known and top guide in Zim. I could write pages about the fun and adventures I had and I feel very fortunate to have the memories. Unfortunately, I couldn't duplicate the hunt today as my PH, Ian Gibson, had a bad run in with a bull elephant and the elephant prevailed:

Both were incredible hunts and were successful on big cape buffalo and many plains game. First trip used a Sako 75 375H&H shooting 300 grain Swift A-Frames and 300 Barnes solids at just over 2,500 fps. The rifle would consistently shoot both loads to the exact same POI at 100 yards. Did a great job on the cape buff and worked perfectly on all other game.
Second hunt, took a Ruger 416 Rigby shooting 400 grain Barnes X at 2,400 fps. Also took a Pre64 M70 300 H&H shooting both 180 grain and 220 grain Partitions. Shot a lot of animals that trip (cape buff, eland, zebra, kudu, impala, bushbuck, warthog, etc.) and there was zero tracking required after the shot. All animals were DRT (including the massive eland) or within a few feet. Really great two rifle combo for that style of hunting in Africa.
I feel like I have had my dream hunt twice already!
I use the name "Shumba" on many of the hunting/shooting websites. Shumba means Lion in Zimbabwe and it was the name of Ian's Toyota Land Cruiser and his radio call sign in the bush.

Have hunted Africa with a 416 Rigby (shooting 400 grain Barnes X @ 2,400 fps) and it is an awesome round. Just thumps big animals, although I shot a cape buffalo in the chest at 30 yards and he looked at me with a "that's all you got" expression
I would absolutely say that is a great choice for Africa, but in a bolt rifle, never a double rifle. I know a few gun makers have chambered doubles in 416 Rigby, but a double rifle is really meant to shoot a rimmed cartridge (470 Nitro Express, etc.).
I hope you get to realize your dream hunt, but you may want to think through the rifle action/caliber combo!

I'll be hunting with Spey Creek Trophy Hunting. Bought the hunt last year at one of the Dallas Safari Club's fundraisers. Owner is John McBride. He went there to hunt and liked it so much he bought it and now he has dual citizenship. He and his wife and son Wyatt run it.
Sold my rifle off many years back, it was a fabulously accurate rifle with anything I put in it from 235gr to 300gr's and one of the most comfortable .375 H&H's I ever shot... "DON'T" ever sell it, my friend. Cheers

Red stag in New Zealand. Most likely with my 300 PRC. I hope to do so in 13-15 years when I retire. Good luck to everyone I hope we all get to live them out.

Don't get your hopes up - almost all stags, and all of the big ones, are shot behind high fences. You can hunt them fair chase, but those stags are similar to Scotland stags. If you want free range in New Zealand, focus on tahr, chamois, and some of the feral critters.

Impossible but this is, after all, a DREAM hunt, not one that's actually gonna happen
But the whole "Alaska/yukon/Northwest Territories grizzly moose caribou bison" thing isn't outside the realm of what's possible That'd be incredible. I wanna go north at some point

While I've hunted Africa PG, ~a dozen wild boar, 8 Caribou, 5 mule deer, and 3 prong horn, nothing does it to me like a 350+ Bull Elk. My dream hunt would be a legitimate chance at a 370+ Elk, probably somewhere along the Nevada Utah border. I'd be shooting my 300prc.
