Your going your hunt of a lifetome what are you hunting and what rifle are you using ? Mine is easy

My dream hunt has always been to hunt a big tusker in Africa. There is just something about standing head to head with a large bull elephant with only 30-40 feet separating you to find out what you are really made of. Can you make the shot when it counts? My rifle: any good double rifle in the legendary .416 Rigby.

Is that a 338/378 or a 348/378 ?
 
It would be easy for me, my pre 64 Model 70 Winchester 30-06. I've owned this rifle for over 50 years, it has several "first " for me, has been a very lucky rifle for me with several last day of the season kills, this is the rifle I take hunting when the chips are down. For any big game animal in North America, I would load accordingly to the game animal I was hunting. Another sentimental and ironic story about this rifle is it was my Uncles varmint rifle for hunting groundhogs back east. It never killed a big game animal until he sold it to me for my first elk hunt back in the 70's and I moved out west.
 
One of my dream hunts is about to take place. I leave for New Zealand next week for a Red Stag hunt near Kaikoura. I'll turn 75 while there and hope to take him on my birthday. I'll be shooting one of their rifles because New Zealand is a royal pain in the butt for bringing in "your" rifle and also because I plan to travel afterwards.

I've been to Alaska several times since Covid hit and I want to go back for a Grizzly and Moose.
I was lucky enough to take a Dall Sheep on my second try that made Boone and Crocket.

A word of advice from Tonto. Do all of your hard hunts while young and save Africa for later when your body isn't at it's best condition. I was stupid and doing it backwards. Hah

Congrats on your b&c dall sheep. That's probably one of the hardest animals to make the book
 
I honestly just don't know enough about overseas hunting to know what my dream hunt abroad would be. But on this continent there's lots I'd like to do and probably never will in my life time as it is.

Number one just might be the mighty polar bear. That animal has fascinated me since I was a toddler. The biggest baddest land predator on this planet.

A great big grizz/coastal brown bear and a monster moose would be on the list too, Alaska, Yukon, coastal British Columbia.

North American bison and barren ground caribou in the Northwest Territories/Nunavut.

But for the polar bear I'd be bringing either my BRNO zg47 in .358 Norma magnum or Winchester m70 in .450 ackley.
 
A polar bear would a bit tricky. You pretty much have to jump thru hoops to be able to shoot one. Not sure the particulars. But definitely a tough hunt.

I said in a previous post to hunt Africa last, but just make sure that you go because it will absolutely capture your soul. Every hunter should go to Africa at least once. Good luck on that!
 
Can't say exactly what my dream hunt is…Grizz would rank pretty high on the list as does Moose and the 3 wildebeests.

Right now, a 22" 30 Nosler is my big gun so I'd take it but that could change any day. I like building them almost as much as I like shooting them.

End of February I got to hunt Nilgai on the King…that was a hunt that was pretty high on the list. The Nos didn't disappoint.

o' e already lived most of my dreams and hunted throughout NA, Europe, and Africa. Mostly using my Blaser rifles R8 and K95 or a bow. But for my grand slam of sheep I used my Prarie Gunworks 18TI in 6.5 STW. But the only game animal I haven't taken and want to take is an oscillated turkey. So for that hunt my rifles stay home and my 12 ga Franchi Turkey gun goes with me.

I was in Kaikoura last year with South Pacific for Red Stag.
