Up in the most northern part of California between Nevada and Oregon there have been spotting of packs of mountain lions between 4-7 in a group by the local farmers in that area

Hopefully this will help change the rules to allow hunting again. If nothing else, it serves as a lesson for other states and shows just what can happen when hunting is outlawed.

I hope you're correct lol my conspiracy brain thinks the liberals are pushing for more predators to eventually lower the deer population to give them an excuse to close big game hunting……sounds are little nuts but hey it is California we're talking about here

I hate to say it, but it seems like things that used to be considered tinfoil hat stuff is coming true.
Especially in California, I wouldn't doubt it.

That's another reason I wish the states' election were more like the Fed, where the lower population areas have more say.
The way it is, the urban (Liberal) areas make laws that don't affect them but have a dire affect on the outstate areas.

I doubt it will change anything. Mountain lions haven't been hunted in CA since 1972...one attack 50+ years later won't change anything.

Meanwhile, last week, three or four ladies on bikes were attacked and they rescued the old girl and pinned the cougar under a bike! I'd say it is time to protect your own.

According to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife their records show between 1986 and 2022 there were 22 mountain lion attacks in California with three fatalities. 11 of the attacks were children under the age of 10, none fatal, the attacks that proved fatal were against adults. see attached.

The people who set and vote for this type of policy are translucent, don't leave their homes, and live on the internet....so unlikely


On another note...this is why you should always at a minimum have a knife on you in the woods...ideally bear spray, knife, and pistol on your person / bino harness NOT your pack!

When you kill one cat, there are many more in the area. Predator hunting in many states…mismanaged to say the least. Here in MT, we have seasons, but I feel way too restrictive. It should be shoot when seen IMHO.

I agree they probably won't change. It would take like ten or more mountain lion attacks/ deaths per year to even get them to consider a change. The reporters keep saying the attacks are rare but I've noticed an increase in frequency in the last decade. There are also waàaaaaay more people in their habitat than ever before.

Many lions still get killed every year... probably more than if we were allowed to hunt them
