I have thought about this over the years off and on.
My bag would have a 22lr Charger style pistol, maybe a 22lr revolver and as much vacuum bagged low velocity/quiet 22 shorts as I could stuff in there, hydration bladder, sqwincher electrolyte quick sticks, water purification tablets/bottle, activated charcoal, book on edibles plants, snare/piano wire, needle nose pliers, side cutters, small roll of duct tape, small Arkansas stone, two good fixed blade floating handle knives, magnifying glass/fire starter, cotton balls soaked with Vaseline, small first aid kit, paracord, small tarp/emergency blanket, sighting compass, small quality set of binoculars, grid/terrain maps, star chart just to start.
I have the majority of this put together and even have the waxed backpack I intended to use, but everytime I go to put it together, I can't get it to fit. I am reconsidering and going to a frame style pack. Since I don't intend to drive, I have a great set of waterproof and durable leather Carolina boots for the trek.
I will tell you that when I build the new house, it will have a cistern and the ability to shelter in place/lock down. Property has a high water table, less than 2ft down and you can have an abundance of fresh ground water in the bottom land and plenty of fresh small game to keep me happy. I really want a cellar once I am fully moved to the farm, built one on the old place and used plans off the homesteading forum.
