I would say the Barnes, I tried the hammers one year one three mule deer, only one was a drt, the other two required a second shot. That's why I moved on to the makers.

Based on Personal preference, & experience;
I prefer the fragmenting / petal shedding / straight line penetrating shank approach to terminal performance over the mushrooming type.
.
Also low engraving pressure, higher bc, functional tip design, & expansion initiation, & deep straight line wound channel.
Apex Afterburners meet my criteria & will be my bullet of choice for field evaluations this season in my 7 SAUM.

I don't think anyone has mentioned Patriot Valley solids. They have a really good B.C. for a copper. They have a 151 gr 7mm that I've seen kill all kinds of animals, including a Pronghorn my buddy shot at 800 yards with his 280 AI. Bullet performed flawless. They are more of the fragmenting tip style with the driving shank.
They fracture at high speeds and muchroom at lower speeds.
Op I would look at Cutting Edge, Badlands and Afterburner.
I have no experience with them but hear good things about McQuire Ballistics.

So far the only thing I've learned from this thread is I need a bigger bank account and more time to shoot all these fantastic new projectiles!

I always seek new technology & finding a better pill but I'll not listen to any companies & why I've tested so many monos Totalling over 30 now
The vast majority have been over a wide variety of critters & very substantial numbers to give a clear understanding of the following statement
Shedding are more consistent than mushroom
Yet
Not all shedding are capable of outperforming a mushroom
True Velocity windows are extremely important ( not only monos c&c also but even more so these days with c&c ) not what some companies state
Consistency is one I follow closely & that flows into
Covering as many bases as possible
Which on those tests , today the one that has proven to be the best is the hammer hht yet im testing something different @ present & that is showing a little more promise but early days as I've only tested this on 39 critters so far
So my recommendation may change once the testing is complete

For myself I like Barnes tsx . Very accurate . I always got exit wound on animal plus not much meat destroyed . For me it works great . And I molycoat them - less copper in rifle .

Both the hammers and cutting edge will fragment. I'm not much for a fragmenting bullet if I have another option that works for that situation and gun. So I typically will shoot Barnes or Badlands. I have some.hammers but haven't loaded them yet to see if a fragmenting will change my mind. If you look at what people that shoot King of the 2 miles shoot then go Cutting Edge. I choose a weight retaining mono over a fragmenting mono is because I hunt for meat, fragmenting does more damage to the meat. Enjoy the experiment
