Announcing the New Hammer HHT

Just ordered some 163HHTs for a new 300wsm build. Reading through a good bit of previous posts, it sounds like the HHTs will be similar to HH load data as opposed to AH load data. If that's the case I recall a recommendation not to run the AHs compressed but is a mildly compressed load okay with the HHTs?

I've only run the AHs not the regular HH which is why I'm asking. Looking forward to giving these a go.

HHT's are similar but not exact so work up low to where you want to be.

The HHT's will load more similarly to the Hammer Hunters. I don't have any trouble with compressed loads as long as they don't push the bullet back out.

OK, Hammer gurus. I'm going to have a Model 70 Varmint .223 barrel replaced; probably Bartlein. Idea is to still shoot 55 gr cheap ammo at PDs, but maybe HHTs for deer/antelope. I'm guessing 68 gr, but maybe 74. So, will this work? I can see the rec twist rate on Hammer site, but don't know if that would mess me up with 55 gr. Clearly I'm not an expert on twist rate, so any help is appreciated.

If you get the recommended twist rate for hammers, it shouldn't mess you up on the 55's. The only time you would have a problem is if you were running a hotrod .22 cal such as the 22 creedmoor or 22-250. It might get the RPMs on the bullet going so much that the 55 lead core bullets would come apart. But it won't matter on a 223.

I recently tried the new HHT in 95 gr. in my 257 WBY. I tried 3 different loads of 3 rounds each. The last load gave me a .224 group at 3730 fps. I'm done!

Cool!!! That is how it is supposed to work. Now instead of developing a load, go and shoot it in the field and practice hunting situations on rocks. Much better spent time and money than doing load development for hundreds of shots.

Any update on the .375 bore HHTs?

Only update I can give is I've been extremely slack on getting information to the hammerboys on that 375 pill

From the 2 prototypes that were tested the 3rd is sitting on my shelf ( only a subtle change as Brian reckons he can improve it more ) not even loaded but just getting back behind the trigger so will change soon but from asiatic buff to Swans i like this pill

The other tips I did complete those tests & wow did I learn & can guarantee I didn't see that part occurring as the issue

previously with any brand is you get what we get & that's it where I got to run 3 different tips sxs in the same pill & 1 was complete crap I mean really really bad & if Steve had of put that on market man it would've been a hard road to recover from yes it was extremely bad
So much still to learn on what's occurring but glad I did do them

Steve, what weight bullet do you suggest for my Savage 110UL 7 PRC out of a 22" proof barrel? I practice to 1000 yards at my farm, but limit shots on elk (out west) to shorter and more practical distances based on specific bullet performance. I want to order some today, but my OCD brain can't decide between the 162 vs 170 HHTs, as I haven't seen load data on the 162 HHT. Thanks.
