I know it's not technically long range, but I don't believe a levergun should wear glasses and am excited to hunt open sights with an old friend pushing the most modern bullet technology. I'll likely be hunting inside 250 yards, which I consider far for the round and my equipment.
Just received my box of Lever Hammers and put a few rounds together in my 30-30AI cases. I expect to see 2600+ with these little pills and can't wait to try them out on the next coyote or bear I come across.
Just wanted to post some pics of this bullet because i think it really brings the old 30-30 into a different world of capability.
I'll post velocities and on game performance as things begin to develop.

I just loaded up some 250 gr shock hammers for my Marlin GG in 45/70 I'm hoping to see 2500fps or close to that. I just have to get time to get out and shoot them. I've seen what 300 gr hard cast out of my GG will do to a cow elk at 70 yards and it was impressive.

I would say that hammers will change the 30-30 for sure into a more efficient round.

I'm hoping to mimic original 300 Savage capabilities with this combo. We'll see…

You should post your results when you're done. I, for one, would be particularly interested. I've used the 402gr SH in my 45-70 but I'm interested in data & results on their lighter offerings.

I'm shooting them in a regular win 94 20" with H-LVR @ 37 gr it's got a little room for more both pressure and capacity wise. 250 yrds is plenty far for these things, the flex tip bullets are the only ones that really hold onto to much velocity at that distance, but the expand pretty hard at typical 30-30 ranges... to much for my liking.

Wish you all the best! Go hammer a bear!

I will post my results. I dont know that I will get 2500 fps but its gonna be close.

I dont know for sure if I will get to the range this weekend. We were putting in a cedar fence at my house and drilling post holes last night and hit a water main (we did call before you dig as well) it is the water main for the neighbors house. We still have water but when a 125hp skid steer with a 12in auger hits old steel water line it ripped off both the 2in main and the 3/4 feeding the neighbors house.... Took over an hour to torch off the steel pipe wrapped around the auger bit...
