Just a poll to see how many of us have sold or traded away a rifle, that haunts us to this day!
I know that I have, and at the time, it was thought to be needed.
Mine, was a Winchester Sharpshooter, in 7stw. It had a Schneider barrel, blueprinted action, and full bedded action from the factory.
I was in the process of buying a house, and as everyone can imagine, unexpected costs came up, that required fast cash. I've cringed about it so many times.
Thoughts and comments?
What's your story?

Yup- first centerfire rifle I owned-- grew up in NC and bought a Ruger 77 compact .243-- it shot very well with 100gr Power Points... but I went to college out west (CO) and decided I needed a 'western' cartridge so I sold it to a co-worker for his son and bought a 7mm Rem Mag... if only we could have those choices back...

I bought a Rem 700 25-06 in the late 80's from a guy I worked with. It was the most accurate rifle I had owned up to that point. After a year of listening to his moaning at having sold the rifle, I finally relented and sold it back to him only to find out a month later that he was transferring to another state. I could have easily listened to another month of his complaining,

Every single one of them!!!! They never bitch or tell you what you did wrong!!!!!!

Sold both of my matching 700 SSBDL 7RUM & 300RUM, a few years after they came out! They were BEASTS to shoot, especially the 7RUM, in sporter weight configuration, but they shot were you pointed them. The Remmy actions, of that era, looked like they were machined with a hammer & chisel too.

1st run 25-06 Sendero, I miss that one the most!

For me, probably an old circa 1976 Browning B-78 in .243. Oh yeah, then there's the 1996 Remington 700 VLS in .22-250 that I paid $369.00 for Brand Spankin' New! What a Mr. "Doomass" I was for letting that go!

Anyway, folks always have their reasons for letting stuff go and for me it's almost always to fund another gun purchase. Problem is, it's usually a 2 for 1 proposition for me to completely fund the next acquisition. I don't comment in the classifieds when a guy is selling something, other than to say something positive about what they are selling if it's legit but in general, I try to encourage guys to hold on to a gun they are thinking about selling if they bring it up in another forum. Alot of times if they just take the optic off it and put it in "dry dock" for a few years, they'll come full circle and be awfully glad they hung on to it. Hind sight is 20/20.
