Terrible being a southpaw

Us leftys shoot right and left rilfes, do you ever see a right hander shoot a left handed rifle? Maybe we are lucky being left handed.

I was wondering when this post would come up. From music to any physical training to shooting, being ambidextrous as much as possible and working both sides, is a huge plus for the body and brain. You can hit a wall like when, as a lefty that learned guitar righty, I bought and tried to learn a lefthanded strat and it was just too alien for my brain and hands.

I shoot all lefthanded now after many years of shooting righthanded. Sold or selling all my righthanded stuff. Issue I have with shooting righthanded bolt guns lefthanded is that you can get a face full of gas if there is an issue with a righthanded bolt shot. For me, way safer shooting a lefthanded bolt gun lefthanded. YMMV.

Haven't drank the koolaid "yet", archery equipment is worse than firearms let alone baseball and golf you find yourself settling for what you can find if at all, oh & dads with left handed kids as mine were, start your search a year or season early for what's coming for eqt because what is available goes quickly and you find yourself borrowing the first go around because of the learning curve on availability
Yeah........who ever find a left handed bat! Lmao...unless of course one of us is holding it!

Lefty here....been hunting and shooting for close to 40 years, I've never fired a left handed rifle! Learned on RH, never looked back. I'll have to pick one up someday just to try it out.
Now I do have some serious complaints about holster selection....:(

My wife is left handed. I bought her a rifle for south paws. She hated it, she was taught to shoot as a right hander. Targets she kills me, food I don't miss.

Here's another lefty story for ya. I'm left handed / left eye dominate, shot left handed all my life (early life anyway). I joined the Marines in 1964 and in rifle training the marksmanship instructors said there were no "left handed " shooters in the Marines. All their equipment was right handed...gloves, jacket, etc. I was forced to learn to shoot right handed. Still shot Expert, with the M14, highest score in the platoon. In Vietnam, I still carried the M14 left handed, though. It took much time and thought to get in right mind set to shoot right handed quickly. Later on I shot NRA Service rifle comp with the M1A and AR 15 and only shot right handed because that was the way I was taught to shoot service rifles on the range. All my hunting and target rifles are right handed....never had shot a left handed rifle until recently. Browning had a Shot Show special X-Bolt Long Range .300 WM in a left hand version. Had to get it. So, I finally shot a left hand rifle....don't like it! Too used to shooting a RH rifle...being able to look into the action, etc. Where before I was able to shoot a LH / RH when hunting I'm now limited to LH because of a right eye retina detachment...pretty much right eye blind.

Even in this day and age. Way back when I first started hunting the only LH rifles available were from Savage or Weatherby and I sure couldn't afford a Weatherby!
Today the market has a good deal more. But we still have our problems. I really wanted to get a Tikka T3x CTR in left hand and in 6.5 CM. Two of my dealers couldn't find one. I sent an email off to Beretta only to find out that this rifle is not available in the US! Well that sucks. A bit of searching and I found something very interesting that I think I'll like and IS available. A Begara B-14 HMR. (b14s352l) in 6.5 CM. I already have a set of rings and mounts for it because it takes Rem 700 bases and a Zeiss 4-14X scope for it. I'll pick it up when I get back to PA next month.

Sportsmans Warehouse carries a Tikka T3x Superlite in 6.5CR left hand. (The superlite is basically a stainless Lite with a fluted barrel.)
I looked at one in a store two weeks ago, but my Lady just got the Tikka T3x Lite, LeftHand, in 270Win (she'll live with a 1in10" twist and a bit more capacity). In either caliber the Tikka is an amazing factory rifle.

LH shooter here as well! I had to shoot RH rifles as well at a young age. When I was old enough to start to purchase my own fire arms is when I started to go with the LH actions. I still shoot both LH and RH but prefer the LH action over the RH. My complaint is that you can't find a lot of LH upgrades for LH actions. Most new style aftermarket stocks only come in RH. I have contacted numerous companies for them to tell me only RH.

She made the right choice! Good on both of you!

I like everything but the retina detachment... there is excellent surgery available for that my friend.

I'm right handed. I was born with a cataract in my right eye. When my Dad bought me a deer rifle, he was pretty sure I'd have to learn to shoot left handed so he bought me a Remington model 760 pump action .270. Sure enough the first time I shot It right handed the scope came up and cut my eyebrow.
I was 15 at the time. So I started shooting my rifle left handed. When I finally Saved enough money from my paper route to buy a shotgun, I found A like new Winchester 101 Over and Under. I paid the Man with the first 4 $100 bills I'd ever seen.

After hunting with those guns for decades, I found a Remington XB40 in a .308 on Proxibid auction site. It was not new but it looked pretty nice. It is probably the best shooting gun I'll ever own.

Now I have 4 left Hand bolt action rifles. I like The fact the action opens on the other side from my face. All but one I bought Used via an auction sight unseen. They are all great shooting rifles.

Moral of the story is shoot what you are comfortable with. There are great left handed rifles out there. Including AR's.

I shooting buddy is lefty. He shoots rh rifles works with his right hand and never moves his head off rifle.
Buck

That's also the way I do it at the range. In the field it's a bit different, but still very
doable, especially after doing so for over five decades. Being slightly ambitextrous, it
always seemed natural to load blind mags right-handed. Around ten years ago, I
decided to get a left handed blind mag Sav 12 vlp. It's ok, but loading it just plain
sucks.
