I just helped one of our original Hammer customers find a rifle of his dreams the last couple of days, and he asks me if he showed me his bull from last season. I said no, did you get a big one? This is what he showed me!!! I couldn't believe it, and told him he had to email me a story and some pics. Here it is.
In 2018 I drew a special bull tag for central Montana. With only a 4-day window to hunt this block management, time and a lot of luck was of the essence. Between howling winds and snowstorms, I had three bulls picked out and after already 1 failed attempt we knew the last evening was going to be our best hope. After putting the bulls to bed we made the trek to close the distance and get our eyes one of the 3, but we had to sift through 25 others first. With nothing coming of it we headed down to where we thought they would come out to feed. With shooting light fading quickly, bulls started appearing from the timber only 100 yds away. (I was prepared to shoot out to 700yds with my 30 nosler loaded up with 181 gr. Hammer hunters). The second bull out was one of the 3 and with a quick glance to see if there wasn't a bigger one coming I torched one off, bull took a few steps and tipped over. He grossed 385". That is my fourth elk taken with the hammer bullets. They shoot true, kill quickly, don't foul your barrel as fast and the damage to meat and the blood shot is half of what I've seen from other bullets.

213 gr Hammer Hunter at 3205 fps in my 388 Lapua
208 yards, Kodak Island billy mountain goat this past October
Shot through both shoulders with about a 1.5-2" exit wound. He did a 180, then fell over. I don't as told you want to pole axe these guys by my guides, and the Hammer sure did that!!
No photos of the internal damage since we used the gutless method. But, you could hear lots of sloshing every time we moved the carcass

I shoot plenty of game with a 7 STW and 6.5-284 Norma and Hammer bullets. Just needed/wanted a big 338 in the land of grizzlies and for the billy goat.Something new and unique in the world of wildcats?
