Should I expect a difference in terminal performance between the Hornady 350gr FN and their 350gr RN in .458? I'll be using either at about 1,800 ft/sec in a 45-70. The rifle is mostly used for blackbear. If they are constructed the same; why would Hornady manufacture both?
The 350 gr RN has a heavier jacket for the 458 WM velocities, the 350 gr FN is designed for the 45-70. JD338
If you want to severely end life with a 45-70 try the 300gr hollow point, I believe I used to run them 2100-2200fps. It's unreal on elk and deer. It opens to the size of a silver dollar!
