One Scope - Mulitple Roles - Your Pick

This is also one I've been looking at pretty hard. It is definitely more affordable than the rest, I don't know why I am hesitant about it. I'm sure the glass is right up there with the ATACR and the weight savings is substantial. I wonder how the turrets are as a comparison. The NF has about the best turrets I've ever felt.
Unfortunately, the only way you're gonna know is to lay down and run one right after the other. Whichever path you choose, I'm sure you'll have a great time shooting !
Good luck and have as much fun looking as you can!

I'm currently building MY version of the do-all rifle. It will play the role of mountain hunter (100-800+ yards), field hunter, ringing steel out to 1000+, truck gun, and predator rifle. I realize that my thoughts are unpopular, but I believe in becoming extremely familiar and efficient with one rifle rather than moving back and forth between many for different roles. I have a CA Ridgeline chambered in 6.5PRC that I want to keep as light as possible. I am awaiting a new AG Composites adjustable hunter stock and it will be complete but I'd like to re-visit my scope of choice. It currently carries a NF ATACR 4-16x50 on it but feels a little top heavy. I am a proud veteran but don't intend on making a deployment to Iraq anytime soon so I feel as though my scope choice is somewhat overkill. I have only owned NF, Leupold, Vortex, Burris and a few other standard brands. I am looking to fill a void with something that has all of the pieces of the puzzle that are important to me. Here is my criteria:

- Superb glass
- Simple reticle
- SFP
- MOA turrets with positive clicks and excellent tracking
- Lightweight
- Able to take a beating (for mountain hunting, not combat)
- Somewhat compact

I've been eyeballing the Zeiss V6 but also have interest in Swarovski, Leupold, Steiner etc... I can't find in depth info on the March scopes but would like to know more. I realize this may be sort of a repeat post but my question to the EXPERTS here is if you had to pick one scope to carry on your main go to rifle for the next 20-30 years which scope would you pick??
The same scope with the Zero Stop & Illumination.

I was going to say the 5.5-22 but you don't want anymore weight.

I have both of theses scopes. Glass is comparable. Leupold is much lighter but turrets are soft compared to ATACR. I enjoy the Leupold but it's not the tough scope the ATACR is.

I'd like to know more about the March 3-24 but can't find a whole lot of info on it
I have/used one this last year for the first time and I love it,all the reasons you stated in your first post were my reasons for getting one, what would you like to know. I have never owned a NF, but I have owned and sold 2 Schmidt and Benders. My biggest reason for the March is the weight savings with the quality glass and 3-24 zoom, I do have several Leupold not in the same class IMO.

I have a 3-24 x52 March F.I like all features of scope, but past 20 it is not clear and I get no use above that. The paralax is very picky also on the 20+.I have a Leo Mark 5,5-25x56 and it is much clearer at 20 and up.I could see twist in barbwire at 440 yard and it was just line in March, that cost much more money.Like the weight of the March for packing

Do yourself a favor and look thru a Trijicon 4.5-30 accupower scope. You'll be very happy you did.

In reality, by the time you can't see the reticle it is past legal shooting hours anyway. An illuminated reticle was not a deal breaker for me either.

Depends on the background the crosshairs are up against and light and shadows etc. i have been in situation where the dark trees and shadows make it a little difficult to see the animal at dusk during legal shooting light. Something like leupolds firedot duplex is my reticle of choice now. That little illuminated dot in the middle can make a big difference.

The Schmitt and bender 3x27x56 34mm tube is almost 40 ozs. I dont think your gonna find a 56mm objective and 34mm tube much lighter than the Trijicon accupower and quality.
