7mm mag vs 7mm wsm

I'd take a 7mm RemMag for a LA, Or a 7mm SS for a SA. The WSM should also function fine.

I don't know which is "better", but personally, of the 2 options you mentioned, I'd go 7mm RemMag.

Your not going to notice the difference. Pick the one with the best brass availability which is the old work horse the 7mm RM. That way your not pulling your hair out or scouring the internet for 7mm wsm brass.

7mm Rem Mag is usually available and the easiest to get. So I decided I'd go the 7mm Rem Mag if I were to get a 7mm.

I always liked uncommon cartridges, so out of the 2 I would go with the 7WSM but I have always loved the 7STW and now love my 28 Nosler.

Would this be used for hunting or just range work, or both?

I have owned both of them. The wsm was in an xbolt with a 23" barrel and was a pleasure to haul around the mountain. My 7mm Rem was a M700 and it had a 26" barrel and was a little heavier.

And then there are the other questions - are you handloading or buying factory ammo? If you are rolling them yourself I would go with the 7 wsm.

7mm blaser, based of the 404 jef case like the wsm, longer neck, no belt, norma brass. Will push 180s over 3100 fps throated properly with RL26.
