I have a henry big boy 44 mag I am thinking aboutputing a scope on it. Just wondering what may look good. I don't want something modern. Kinda thinking of something of the era.

Pics or suggesting would be great. Thanks

Rifle scopes of the "era" represented by the Henry "Big Boy" style lever action rifle weren't much more than a long tube with little magnification. Unless you shop for a vintage scope the closest thing I can think of is the Unertl. But a Unertl in excellent condition is going to hit the wallet pretty hard. Probably more than the cost of the rifle. Take a look at the Leatherwood 8x external adjustment scope and see how you like that one.

That's the same thing I came up with. I guess iron sites it is then.

They originally did a "bang up" (pun intended :D) job with only iron sites and for the range they're designed to handle iron sites should do just fine. That style lever action will always be a popular hunting rifle and it'll make a better hunter of most of us cuz we gotta stalk and move in closer to the kill.
