215 Hybrid in .300 Win. Mag. Range Report

Went out yesterday with my .300 winny to chronograph my load with 215 Hybrids. In my last barrel I was getting 2,930 fps with the same load. I'm getting 2,885 fps with an ES of 12 in my new barrel. I went with a 1-9" twist in my new barrel as opposed to the 1-10" twist in my last barrel. Both were 28" Hart's.

I'll take a small hit in velocity for the kind of accuracy I've been getting out of my new barrel. Here's a picture of the typical types of groups it has been shooting.

Great looking rifle and thanks for the report.

I have a 300 RUM and have been thinking about a 9 twist for a new barrel for the 215 hybrids. I shoot a 10 twist now and was thinking a 9 might work better. Looks like you have proof!

We just finished tweaking the load on the Hybrid Throated 300wsm, it to has a Hart barrel, 27" 10 twist. Made a small powder increase, .2grns, and switched from Fed215Ms to CCI250s. It groups like yours with the 230 Bergers at 2916fps, es 9, sd 4.2. Great shooting btw.

Backwoods83, what powder are you using with the Hybrid Throated 300WSM and the 230 Bergers? I'm working on about the same setup but want to use 215 Hybrids.

Imr7828ssc, with my throat design you'd never get enough 7828ssc in the case for a 215 Hybrid, so if yours is even close I believe I would start with H4831sc.
