115-120 gr 257 bullets

recommendations for a 115 to 120 gr. hunting bullet for a 25-06 ?? What about the barnes 115gr TSX FB ? will be used for deer and hogs. Rifle is a Vanguard S2 w 24" barrel ....E

115gr Nosler Ballistic tip is the most accurate bullet I've found so far for my Sendero. I've got a
1 in 9 twist Krieger barrel on it,seems to work for the heavier bullets I wanted to use. I've shot Whitetail, Mulies and Antelope with that combo, usually a bang flop deal.

I think you might want something like the TSX you mentioned for hog's tho,or maybe Sierra, I've had very good luck with them too.

+1 on the Nosler 115 Ballistic Tips. Excellent bullet.

I didn't have much luck with the Sierra 117 BTHP bullets in my Ruger #1V. Doesn't mean it's a bad bullet, I just couldn't find a combination of components for my gun. I think it was a bit too long.

A buddy of mine likes the Barnes TSX but I've no experience with them.

I am shooting the 115 Berger out of my 25-06 AI. 26" Krieger barrel shooting 61 gr of 7828, I get right at 3400 fps. This load is really close to max in my gun. At 61.5 gr I start to show pressure signs.

I've killed a pile of game with the 100 TTSX and you will not be disappointed. I used the Accubond for the first time this past season and heart shot a coues deer at 400 yards, it worked wonderfully as well.

115 berger all the way. By far the best BC of any bullet listed and absolutely devastating on game.

thanks for the suggestions fellas, ill try the ballistic tip or accubonds from nossler. Im loading some 140 gn accubonds to try in my 270. Now i just have to find some.....E

hornady 117 sst is the most economical bullet for that caliber. I've shot several deer and a hog using them in my 257 weatherby. box of a 100 for price of 50 noslers.

I wish I could say I have tried my 115gr bergers on an animal. But I haven't. But I did get a .479" group out of my factory barreled 700(bedded hs stock and a jewel trigger).

117 Sierra Pro Hunter flat base bullet is what I settled on years ago for my 25-06 for deer. It is super accurate and just plain kills deer dead in their tracks most of the time. You can get 100 of them for less than 50 of others and the game shot with them will not know the difference. My rifle likes 49 grs IMR 4350 with CCI 250 primers in a Remington case 20 thousands off the lands. 26" Shilen 10 twist average 3000 fps.

What about the barnes 115gr TSX FB ?

I have used the 115 gr FB, the old X bullets not the new TSX style. I still have some of them. The only X bullet I've ever recovered was one of these from a CO Mule Deer. It looked exactly like the pictures with about half of one of the petals missing. It weighed 112 gr.

Most off the shelf 25/06Rem caliber rifles wear a 1/10" twist barrel and the only 120 grain bullet that I could stabilize in my M77 Ruger w/1/10" twist is a Speer BTSP. I never tried the Nosler Btip bullets so I can't give an opinion of them. I guess the Speers are a little shorter bearing surface than a lot of other .257" 120 grain bullets.

I had great results with 117 SST on whitetails. Holds together well with rapid initial expansion. With my 25 WSSM at 3000 fps I could get exits on quartering frontal shots through the front shoulder at 100 yards. Killed 6 that year on farm reducing dear heard.
