Possible New Bullet Venture

What great feedback! I want to address the question of Cost/Price. It's not my intention to get rich at the expense of a few. Pricing will be more than reasonable. I will try to provide Military Discounts to Retired and Active Duty members of our Armed Forces. I'll even do Firefighter and Law Enforcement too. But, I'm not up to that point yet. Right now I'm at the stage known as Due Diligence.

Yes, I think there is room for another bullet maker. I will make bullets that are unlike anything on the market currently. And, I will offer them at a reasonable price. I will start out producing a dozen or so key items where there appears to be demand and go from there.

All Copper - No Problem; Partitions - No Problem; Plastic Nose Tips - no problem; Consistent Metplats - no problem; Bonded Bullets - no problem; Secant Ogives - no problem; Tangent Ogives - no problem ... Combinations of the above - no problem. Am I going to select a price point that allows me to recoup my investment in machines and dies - of course, I am a capitalist - It's my intent to produce excellent bullets at a reasonable price for you guys - the consumer/customer so we both win.

I will also produce bullets in small quantities for selected folks to try the bullets out - and get them "right" before I start cranking out projectiles.

I'm using my own money to fund this venture so I need to get the business model right the first time

150 to 160 grain in the .264 is definitely needed (preferably 160). I would be buying some for sure if they would stabilize in an 8 twist.

338s in the 225 250 300 ranges...alot like a Berger but 1/3 Bonded would be the ultimate...Uniformed Meplat or tipped...that expands down to 1400....Like the Long Range Accubonds are supposed to be...be another 2 years before you see those in 338.....gun)

I have to second (or third, or forth) the 6.5mm 150-160grainer (color me biased).

The 160 would most likely be the highest one could go weight wise w/o requiring a custom barrel twist.


If you would be able to produce a truly consistent meplat (ala Cutting Edge) i'm good with hollow points, otherwise I will take the tipped version. Berger & Sierra leave too much to be desired in my experience & meplat uniforming is almost as irritating as neck turning; call it OCD more than anything


I use Cutting Edge now, I have no problem with those prices. On the other hand, it would take an incredible product to coax me into paying any more.

If you roll solid copper I highly suggest the bore rider design. Even as a Barnes fan boy, I get tired of scrubbing copper out of the bore (shhh... don't tell broz)


One might start a Poll-Thread to discern which caliber/weight is in highest demand & start there.... Just my .002

Maybe also a mid weight .284 (160-168 grain) for us that shoot the smaller 7mms, like the 7mm-08-280AI.

My wish list, in order of importance.
AVAILABLE
Accurate
High BC, equal to or above bergers of the same weight.
Consistency from LOT to LOT and bullet to bullet.
Back 1/3-1/2 bonded while the front remaining completely frangible.
Hybrid type ogive for ease of load tuning
Consistent meplats
No more than about $70/100

A heavy .224 for larger capacity wildcats. Monometal stout enough the back end doesn't catch up to the front end, generous hollow point with a metal tip.

Lol, I feel your pain. You already know what 100 CEB's cost... Thank god I have some more "reasonable" rifles/ammo to shoot as well.

My local Rocky Mountain Ripoff had 6.5-140vld's @ $66/box. I would have been angry if I wasn't laughing so hard.

Not at my local store....All Bergers are roughly the same price... Between $50-55 per 100.
