Did the bullet enter or exit where the ribs are blown away? How many inches of penetration would you estimate?

Hey Ed,
My1st pick for the all round bullet would have to be (for up close to out wide) the 145gr LRX, it has every thing, speed, penetraction and terminal performance but a poor BC which means it is going to get blowin around on those long shots.
Next would be the New Nosler long range 150gr accubonds (as yet not proven in the field.) But I'm pickin it is going to work out great and has a respectable BC.
If your shots are all long and you have wind to contend with you will need something with a better BC, my pick starts with the 162gr A max and I would try the New berger elite hunter bullets which are hopefully released shortly.
Just my thoughts.

Bobs, the bullet completely passed through, and exited just inside the right thigh. That blown away rib isn't actually blown away. I cut it off when I cleaned out the chest cavity. That rib was cut or severed as far as you can see it, as if a bone chard, or a piece of the bullet raked down the side of it. I found a single broken petal inside when I was boning the the deer. The wound channel was devastating through the core, and the bullet did exit as was stated. I would have preferred a broad side shot, but the light was leaving in a hurry, and my sons deer position was perfect, so I took the shot I had. I hit her exactly where I was aiming, and believe me, that bullet didn't drop at all. Overall, I am pleased, as I had not shot this bullet on animals, but had good info from good sources that assured me they would do the job. Both deer where dropped cleanly , both with 7 mm bullets, and both were barnes bullets. One was a TSX, and mine was the LRX. Two shots, two bullets, two DRT deer, one with a STW, one with a seven mag. Good average in my book. My best estimate is that the velocity was still around 3380-3400 on impact. Muzzle velocity is averaging 3440. If a bullet can hang with that velocity, and completely pass through, and leave the damage it did, it's a good bullet in my book. I am told that it will still open at 1900 fps, and that dosen't happen till around 900-1000 yards. I am no 1000 yrd shooter, but something inside that with perfect conditions would tempt me. P/S, she was facing me head on, with her head down. I centered on the base of the neck where it meets the back.

It took us a while to find him. I was getting really concerned, until Scotty found him. When I walked up to the elk, I think I squealed like a little girl! I'm sure, I hugged the fellas enough times to get out of the happy hunter zone, and into the starting to get creepy zone!
Even though I was up at about 4:45am that morning, I couldn't get to sleep about midnight!

I shot a doe tonight at 100-120 yards with 160 accubonds, I thought I missed but I found patches of hair where I shot her. I called my buddy and we started to track it. We immediately found pink chunks of blood I knew it was a good hit in the lungs. She ran and ran leaving very little blood and we finally found her. Perfect shot and I flipped her over and there was a baseball size exit wound and a chunk of her lung was clogging up the hole and hindered a major blood trail. Deer has a major will to live. I found it unbelievable that a massive hole like that and how far she ran (atleast 75yds) it felt like longer because of the thick cover. Thank the good lord I found her. Have y'all had a perfect shot on an animal before and very little blood before?

Heck, I've had that happen on a deer hit with a 300 win through the lungs at 50 yards with clockwork hanging out the side after the hit(300 win with 165's at 3300 fps). Dang white tail doe went 150 yards with no lungs at all a few years back. She wasn't even moving 'till I shot either.

Wow, that's crazy. They definitely have the will to live.
I shot this buck about 3 weeks ago. 185 yds, Nosler partition. Buck dropped on the spot to a high shoulder shot. Complete penetration of course. 1" entrance, massive internal damage (shoulder & spine shattered) and a small exit. The other 2 bucks were taken by my buddies the same weekend. It has taken me a while to figure out how to post pics.
