+1 and make it an axis.
Not sure about any Ruger. Most Rugers have very clunky triggers. I know, I have a few and all need addressing, especially the pistols.
I also happen to have a Ruger Mini 14 Target accurized by ACS. I realize its a gas operated blowback semi auto but it's a sub MOA shooter and it's not particular about type of ammo. You can single shot it by turning the gas down via an socket head setscrew on the gas block if a single shot blows your dress up, or crank it up with a 20 round magazine. your choice.
A friend and I were out shooting at the range for fun (100 yards), he was shooting his Tikka and I had the Ruger. He jokingly remarked that the mini wasn't a 'tack driver' like the Tikka was. I proceeded to 'drive the head of the tack' holding the target on the board at 100 yards, first shot hit it, second shot blew the head off... and the target fell off......
So much for that......
.223 is my favorite round. It's cheap in factory loads and had plenty of variety. Brass is plentiful and cheap, takes small rifle primers and not a gob of powder so powder goes a long way. The cases don't grow excessively with repeated firings and the bullets, being .22 caliber are inexpensive, even ballistic tipped ones, to buy. I have literally thousands of reloaded rounds in different flavors and lots of factory loads too.
....but then an outing usually involves expending a couple hundred rounds.
