Your most memorable Christmas present as a kid.

I was watching "A Christmas Story" a couple days ago and started thinking about Christmas gifts I received as a child. I never received a firearm (BB gun or otherwise) for Christmas, but I did get a couple memorable gifts as a child.

One year, (probably 13yrs old or so), my brother and I received a "Tin Can Alley" light activated shooting gallery. We used that thing until we'd burned up all the batteries in a 20 mile radius

The next year, I received a complete Rock Chucker Combo, dies for 30-30, 222Rem and 7mm Remington Magnum. I scrounged an old wooden desk and mounted the press in the middle of it. I organized and re-organized my dies, books, bullets, primers etc. etc. until it was "perfect". That is the last organized reloading setup I've ever had! I wonder if my parents decided that Powder,Primers and lead was cheaper than batteries !!

I still have that press, and it still makes excellent ammo.

That kit, was my best Christmas ever.

When I was 6 I helped my dad build a book case for my mom for christmass. It was a big secret she did not know about it. The next morning the book case was transformed into a base for my new train set, the one that had been in tha attic for years and I was not old enough for.

When I was about 10 my Mom and Dad got me a Savage 20 gauge shot gun.I a squirrel hunted every creek that I could walk to.

My favorite Christmas present was also shooting related---imagine that..lol.

I was about 16 and had plenty of long guns. Two .22's, a 20ga shotgun, pellet rifle, and a 30-30. I had all the "hunting-bases" so to speak, covered. Well it was Christmas time and my Dad didn't have much money. He kind-of had a sad look in his eye when he said "son, I didn't have any money to buy you anything, so I'm going to have to give you something." Then he handed me his Ruger Mk 1 .22 pistol. I **** near cried. I was with him the day that he went to order it. I was with him when he picked it up from the dealer. He and I used that pistol together when we ran traplines. Every time I so much as THINK about that pistol, I remember all the times that he and I had with it.

I got a Ted Williams 20 gage with a vent rib and a polychoke..I hunted a few years and it came up missing..Somebody sold it for a beer tab at Shermans and it was not me.
My older brother bought me a 12 gage H/R Topper that went the same way as my 20 gage.

My kids,wife and a sane life.

My most memorable was a Bear Magnum Hunter compound bow when I was 13.

That previous fall I had killed my first deer with an old second hand recurve bow that my Dad had declared "effective as a bag of rocks" when he saw me heading out to hunt with it. After killing that buck, decided to get me something a little more modern.

You didn't get any Greenie Stickum Caps with them? I only got a single and no boots nor hat but I did get a vest and star.

When I was 6 I got a General Lee that made noise, 2 Stompers, a BB gun, & a set of wood blocks & wood saw horse with a cut out wood horsehead, & rope tail. Oh, & foot jammies that made me look like The Greatest American Hero guy.
Needless to say, my superhero jammies, with my trusty horse, BB gun, & the General Lee, those bad guys drivin those Stompers never had a chance! But they always escaped my wood block jail....

Still have that ol' "saw HORSE" grandpa made. Hrs gone now, but my kids play with it, & it has an honered place in the livingroom.

I like the Fanner Fifty's, I don't think they make them any more. I'll just have to settle for my Vaquero's
