My pocket PC and laptop programs are spitting out different MOA adjustments with identical dope. Not terrible differences, first starts at 850 and is a 1/4 min difference, 975 is a 1/4 min diff, 1050 is a 1/4 min diff, 1075 1/4 min, 1150 is 1/4 min diff, it returns to the same at 1250, and starts going back off a 1/4 min from there. anybody know whats up with that? Have triple checked every possible variable....

Have you got the same OS on both?
 
Not sure why he would make them different, kinda thinking to myself ***! but here's Gerald Perry's explanation:
"The Pocket PC and PC version use different calculation algorithms. The PC version is very precise. The Pocket PC version uses the Sciacci flatfire model."

 
Yes, they are different models. Why is another question, which one is more correct is yet another question that needs to be determined under actual field use IMO.

I have both the PC and Pocket PC version and I have to use a slightly different station pressure to get my dopes exactly the same with everything else being equal. Seems like I read somewhere that they use a different atmospheric model.?
 
I know you said inputs were all the same, but thought I might offer this as I've had errors with it before. Make sure that your 'sight-in conditions' are identical. Sometimes I make an error on the pc in this regard. Just a thought. Other than that--the different equations, as others have said, may be the issue.

That's not too surprising given that slightly different calculations might heavily tax the limitted processor of a handheld.

Time and technology will eventually overcome that issue.

It's actually pretty amazing that it works as well as it does.

In any case, you'll want a backup method for when your battery dies at the worst possible moment in the field.
