your 1st love? memorable or not

I saved up my hay baling and corn detasseling money to buy an 870. It replaced my Dads Stevens model 59A bolt action 410 in the duck swamp.
I did some detasseling myself in my younger years...but they weren't hanging from stalks..more like swinging around Poles! Of course.. that cost me money!

At 12 years old, and obsessed with hunting and firearms, my father surprised me one night when he came home from work with a H&R 20ga Model 48 single shot shotgun, a box of Remington Shur-Shot shells, and an Outers gun cleaning kit. It was the start of an enduring +six decades long passion for guns and hunting. Cherished that first gun, and learned quickly to make the first shot count
I still have that shotgun….And the Outers cleaning kit.

Great picture. Can somebody identify that car ?

Like Greyfox, mine was a single shot 12 gauge at 12 years of age. Mine was a Winchester model 37 and it's still in my possession.
I shot lots of Starlings, and tweetie birds with it until I turned it loose on doves and pheasants. No doubt having only one shot made me a much better shooter as well.

Growing up on a farm, my first was a .22 LR Remington Viper. I was 13 and saved up my money to buy it.

Shotgun's would be the Steven's side by side .410 that my grandfather let me borrow from time to time until my dad got tired of buying the ammo for it! The I got a real shotgun, Winchester Model 12 featherweight. The absolute best shooting shotgun I own! It is a safe queen now, I don't want something to break that I cannot get fixed. The .410 is in the safe too.

Winchester 670 in .243 for the center fire rifles. Also my grandfather's and I shot my first 4 deer with it when he broke his arm and couldn't. It's in my safe now too.
