What barrel manufacture for semi custom build?

I'm having my old Rem 700 270win sent in for a make over. The action will be trued and a new barrel will be fitted. I'm about 90% confident that I'm going with a 270ai, 1-8 twist, 26" , light Palma (or similar) contour. This will be a hunting rifle.

I've got a semi custom rem 700 SA in 223 with a 1-7 Bartlein. It is a blast (pun intended)

Loyalty runs in my bones, so originally I was going with a Bartlein, but I decided to consult the Oracle. What do you guys think?

Price, availability, lead time, and performance are all factors. Performance is king though.

Hard to go wrong with Bartlein, but check Brux, Shilen, Lilja, and Krieger too for performance, for cost, and for time to delivery.

Brux may give Bartlien a run for its money on performance too.

Have had several Lilja's and they all are sub 1/4" hunting rifles. Put someone behind them that can really shoot and they would be far better.

Bartlein, Krieger, Douglas are top, also going to cost top $$$ and long wait times unless you find a retailer with the barrel you want.. but there are many other companies producing great barrels. MPA, Hart, Schilen.
All the manufacture I mentioned are high performance.

I have been wondering about the quality of Douglas barrels. I seldom see that anyone uses them. I know they have been around for seems like forever.

Douglas is not high production barrel manufacture, but high quality. Whatever comes out of the facility are sold way in advance.

I personally have used and only use SPC tubes so Krieger which I have a couple of safes full of and a CF wrapped Bartlein now on my ELR. The SPC tubes just by the method used to rifle them introduces less stress that the stress relieving process must remove. Just my preference.

I figured they had to be good quality or they wouldn't have been around long as they have been. I remember when I was a kid and wanting to build a rifle, I ordered a catalog from them. I also had one from Bishop stocks. I wore those out reading them over and over.

Only Bartlein for me. 280AI and 223AI, both are .25 moa, if I don't drink too much coffee that morning.
