Reasonable bipod

I'm looking for a bipod, mainly for bench shooting but I plan to swap it to my hunting rifle once or twice a year. I've got a $50 crapwell that serves a purpose, I guess. But it seems like the next jump up that isn't the same thing but a little longer is to the 300-stupid range.

s there anything in the middle worth while?
Or is a $400 bipod actually worth it?
Give the Fab Defense Spike bipod a look. Much stouter than a magpul with more features but still about the same weight as a Harris.

I own a number of bipods, everything fom Atlas to Harris to Amazon/chinesium grade. I prefer the notched leg style when it comes to Harris style bipods. I have gotten very good service out of some of the cheap Harris clones from Amazon(CVLife is one that comes to mind). Admittedly they haven't seen a ton of hard field use, but they do get used frequently and do everything they are advertised to do. Are they an Atlas? No, but they definitely represent a good value, which allows me to put bipods on rifles that would otherwise have to share a more expensive unit. Spend what you can. Often in this arena of shooting sports the mantra of "buy once, cry once" applies, but not always. The only bipod I ever had "fail" was a Harris that lost a foot pad. They sent me a replacement free of charge.

I like my Death Grip Carbon. No Complaints at all from me

I will say I've tried several. Personally and don't see a heck of a lot of differences in performance of the name brand folks. Will mention several things I look for.

1 legs with levered cam locks (at any position) . Or pinned. Tried those that twist lock and have found them to slip under weight of gun.

2 I like those with slightly tight, but smooth movement for canting the gun to get to level position. Once you have looked at your scope level it does not easily move off level, but not so tight you have to push to hard to get out of position.

I also like to have a hand held bipod handy for either taller situations or their best use is if a tall front rest can hold the forearm steady from left to right and back a froward, then place hand held under the stock. I have found this approach rock steady for those long shots. Lots of elevation adjustment by just squeezing the legs together.

I would say Harris. I also have a BlackHawk and haven't had any issues with it.

I've had good experience with Harris Bipods. Make sure it has the swivel feature that allows you to "swivel" the rifle if on uneven ground to keep rifle level. My early Harris did not have this feature but my newer one does.

I like the Spartan bipod and tripod systems. Nice to be able to attach an detach easily and switch to different guns in seconds.

Harris Swivel. My opinion is that the expensive bipods don't make the rifle any more stable for 3 or 4 times the money, and that's what a bipod is for. You have different options with the Harris legs. Spring out or spring retract. They adjust easily and with the swivel feature, all you have to do is get it somewhere close. No adaptors. Hook it to your sling stud and your sling to the bipod. Done! My expensive .02¢ opinion for what it's worth.
