I have Winchester brass that was factory ammo I am trying to reload. My CCI large rifle primers are slightly larger than the primer pocket on this brass. I use the Lee Loader reloading tools and trying to set the primers in place is work to say the least. My options are buy new empty brass or buy a different brand of large rifle primers. What do y'all figure would be the best option??? This brass is for the +P loads.

Welcome to LRH.
I'm about 35 miles from you. Send me a PM if you need help. I can swap primers with you, loan you a priming tool or a pocket uniformer or anything you need. I've not had issues priming Roberts or any brass. I had a couple of Roberts over the last 45 years and I might have some brass or factory ammo.

Thanks for the offer. Bought a uniformer today. I had never had problems priming before. I am in good shape now.

They make carbide Match uniformers, you can use a drill or turn be hand !. Large rifle works for magnums also ,small rifle works for small rifle, you can't over cut your primer pockets because there's a built in shoulder to stop it. End result is primers seated Correct and equal ignition every time. Cheers ☺️

I've had 2 Ruger 77 in 257R, am early one and then a Hawkeye, now have a win m70 sg. The only bullet I could shoot in the older one was nosler 115bt. Ironically a magazine did a test review of same rifle and that bullet shot the best in it with nearly exactly the same load.

Winchester has been having problems with their brass for a while now, as has been suggested pick up a primer pocket uniforming tool. Just for conversation's sake, you aren't using CCI large #34 Mil spect primers, are you?
