Why I want a 25 creedmoor because it's the perfect caliber.

Just used my 25 creed on a desert big horn in dec. Kimber Montana 24" Blake rifle barrel 1-7.5 shooting 131 blackjack at 400 yds rifle is under 8 lbs Used rl-26 srp alpha munitions brass shoots 2915 fps and as long as I do my part shoots1/2 inch at 100 I think it's a great cartridge

Beautiful ram. Beautiful country. Awesome hunt I'm sure.

Quarter bore is obsolete. Change my mind lol
I think you can change your mind about a quarter bore without claiming it's obsolete. In fact, the resurgence of the caliber due to the newest longer heavy high bc bullets is bigger than ever. I feel some rifle manufacturers will be following the 6.8 Western cartridge and start building rifles with faster twist barrels. Loaded ammo will show up using those bullets and the resurrection will be complete.

My teenage friend settled on a .257 variety.... for everything he hunted. He had so many successful, one-shot kills over the last 25 years, it caused me to really want the load in a fine rifle.

It was a 25-06.

But then I purchased a 270 Win and those desires just went away.

When I think about anything in the .257 to .264 range... the thought is fleeting, as my 270 Win just seems superior.

.......

I'm case you didn't understand it was a trolling joke. Just like the original post

The 6.8mm is obsolete too. Change my mind lol

I have a custom reamer and Go Gauge sitting in the closet I've never opened. It's a .25 Creedmoor variant with most of the freebore removed. I designed it to favor the current offerings of bullets up to 120 grains. That was before the Berger 133gr Hunters were available. My main problem is finding a good .257 barrel in 9 twist that I don't have to wait most of a year for. I really wanted a pre-fit, and if PVA offered the option in 9 twist, I would have one already. Sure I can order a custom barrel from Hart, Pac-Nor, Douglas, and more, I'm sure, and I guess that's what I'll have to do if I ever get to use the reamer. It's still hard to find good quarterbore barrels in anything other than 1:10 except one or two in like 1:7 now. Anything in between is a long special order process with upcharges in some cases for the bore size, special twist, and/or using your own reamer. The quarter comeback isn't progressing fast enough for my liking.😂

As a 25 cal fan myself (own every one except .25SSM) I am curious about shooting the 131 Blackjack in either one of my 25-06s, or the .257 Bee. Its .330 G7 should give G1 of .67 or thereabouts, much higher than anything I shoot. Although designed for the CM type seating, other than a faster twist barrel, does anyone have experience with such a move?

I've been doing some testing of that 131 BJ bullet in my 25-284. I've tested it out to 840 yards. It has identical drop to the 144 Berger at identical velocities. Makes me think the .330 bc is about perfect. Maybe .335 even. My ballistic drop tables likes it at .337 actually. If I draw a leftover goat tag this summer for a Wyoming hunt this October, I'll be trying them out.
