Absolute Hammer load data

Looking for any starter data out there for 7 Sherman Short (7SS) and the 140 Absolute Hammer. I have everything I need to load heavy (180-195 and RL26/H1000) for this caliber but am interested in some light LASER beams. 26" barrel 1:8.4TW

Didn't see any data in the .PDF so figured I asked the experts.

I would consider even lighter than 140s. When mine is finished I'm gonna run some 101s and 120s through it.
My 6.5 Max is giving some excellent velocities and accuracy.
Agreed. In a "normal economy" I would try several powders and bullets but seeing how powder and primers are in short supply I was hoping to get a solid 1 or 2 recommendations on powder and maybe some 7SS data points.

Have you looked at Rich Sherman's forum? May be some info there.
Also, you can ask Rich directly. He's @elkaholic on here.
@LanceKenyon (I think that's right), also uses a lot of Rich's cartridges and is a good source of info. Look him up.
My guess is H4350 is going to be a good bet.

Edit: lancetkenyon has a bunch of data on 6.5SS posted on the spreadsheet (HH). This should give you some ideas. Looks like RL 23 and 26 do well. Be sure to post your final data for others.

GLT,

I think (and have been told) that RL26 will be too slow for a 7SS with a 140AH. Great for 175-195 Bergers though.

I have searched here and on the net til my eyes hurt but could not find any 7SS/140 AH data, maybe it just hasn't been done yet because everyone likes shooting heavier projectiles?

If Rich has his own forum, I can't find it.

Yup, lots of "can'ts" today on this side.

I vaguely recall reading that the 7SS generally like slower powders when compared to similar capacity calibers. I have no idea if that would apply to the absolutes though.

What is the powder capacity of the 7SS? I thought it was in the 60g range, and if so then based on 280ai data, I agrees with @GLTaylor h4350 could be right in there.

Honestly any powder from rl16 to maybe even h4831 (probably too slow) could work, but like you're finding, no one has posted anything yet! So congratulations and welcome to the ranks of trail blazers!

For what it's worth I would pick h4350, hybrid 100v and something like rl23, and go run some pressure ladders in 0.5 gr increments.

Google Sherman Wildcat Cartridges. Go from there. You can email Rich directly at the bottom of his web page.
Also, on LRH there's a thread Sherman Wildcat Loading Data Is Here.
Check those out.
Best bet is start with 4350, find pressure, look at case fill and go faster/slower from there.

Thanks. I have the latest loading data 175 is the lightest listed. I will probably just load up all the 180 and 195s I have and shoot those until the powder and primer supply return to normal.

Well, if you have any questions about Hammers and if speed kills, this should help you figure it out. Running my 6.5-284 Norma at 3511 fps with the 109 gr Absolute Hammer. Shot was only 208 yards at a slight incline. Pronghorn was quartered towards me. Entrance was on his left side of the chest and exited through the spine. Lungs were shredded and look at that exit wound. I was ****ed because I lost some backstrap meat.

Brother Bean already knows about this since I sent him photos right after the buck was down. And his response was classic….. "are you convinced now???" I've been a Hammer fan for years now, but "run them light and fast" was still something I was having a hard time with. Not anymore!!
