Seems to me that PRC is becoming the 6.5 du jour of late, edging out CM in number of posts. I get the extra speed/energy of the PRC, but is there any appreciable difference in inherent/average accuracy in the PRC over the CM? Or the other way around?
If this subject is covered well in another thread, happy to just be pointed there.
Cheers

Both are capable of equal accuracy. In my opinion, the Creedmoor is better suited for lightweight hunting rifles and excels at varmints up through medium game animals. I think the Creedmoor is excellent for a new shooter or smaller statured shooters because of the mild recoil. It also is typically cheaper to reload for and ammunition is usually cheaper as well. The PRC basically does everything better than the Creedmoor except with a tad more recoil and a little more costly to shoot if that matters to you. I would choose a PRC unless the goal was for an ultralight pack rifle or for a smaller or new shooter.

Do you wear your hair in a manbun? (Creed) or more of a crew cut guy (prc)?

If the guns are created equal same components and such I don't think you can say one is more accurate than the other. The prc is going to have more recoil which could make it less accurate one could argue but if you are shooting at game I would take the larger cartridge any day of the week. Long range rats the old manbun would work fine if shots are under 100 yards.

The PRC has, a little more "Horse Power" , IF, going for Elk than, the Creed !
The PRC is "kissing, the Butt" of, the .270 WSM for, Velocity and with, the higher BC bullets, actually surpass it, past 600- 700 yards.
My Grandson has one,,. and he CAN'T get Brass or Ammo, very easily as, EVERYONE has one, now,.. LOL !
Fortunately, we scratched together, 5 Boxes of Ammo, to get him started.
"Price Paid" for the 6.5 PRC is in,.. Barrel Life over, the Creed !

About the same difference as the 6.5x47L vs. the 6.5-.284 Norma. Or the .260 Rem vs. the 6.5 SS. Or the 6.5x55 vs. the 6.5SAUM.

Shooting a lot? Shoot the smaller cartridge.
Paper or steel? Shoot the smaller cartridge.
Smaller or less experienced shooters? Shoot the smaller cartridge.
Shooting out to medium range (600 or so) on medium sized game? Shoot the smaller cartridge.
Strictly hunting? Shoot the bigger cartridge.
Want a reason for another rifle? Shoot BOTH!

I have both, the accuracy of both depends on many things. Both of mine Browning Max LR is 6.5prc and a Bergara HMR in 6.5 cm shoot some loads at .5moa. neither kick enough to matter to me. 6.5prc is just faster with better ballistics. After getting the prc I will likely sell the cm soon.

Keep them both. The 6.5CM should go 2500+ rounds if you don't hot rod it. Use it as your weekly practice rifle. Save the PRC for LR and hunting.

Let me translate the general 6.5mm rankings for Real Men™ who shoot the All-American 30 Cal:

6.5 Grendel - 300 Blackout
6.5 CM - son of a motherless goat
6.5x47 - 308 Win
6.5 PRC - 300 WSM
264 win mag - 300 win mag
26 Nosler - 30 Nosler
nothing - 300 RUM

In reality, the 6.5 PRC is for people who want to go faster than the 6.5 CM. Why max out a smaller cartridge when there's an option with a larger capacity? You can split endless hairs on 6.5 CM vs 260 Rem, why does the 264 Win Mag exist with the stupid belt, all American 6.5s are knockoffs of x47s or x55x, Nosler makes silly overbore barrel burners, etc, but at the end of the day H20 capacity is the primary difference, with the resultant changes in ballistics due to higher velocity.

I had both. I bought the PRC and liked it so much the 6.5 CM has a new owner. My vote goes to the PRC. I would only go creedmoor If it was for one of my kids first big game rifles. Accuracy advantage I would call a tie. Both cartridges are very forgiving to load for.

I have both and I couldn't agree more than what jud96 said. He is spot on.

They're both great cartridges. And have shot both quite a bit. It's as simple as staying within limitations of said cartridges. If you want to hunt out past 500 go prc. Inside of that the creed will get it done. I just rebarreled a creed to 18.5" and am shooting the 130 vld hunting's at easily over 2800fps and weights 8.5lbs with a 6-24 scope mounted. Pretty handy little rifle! But if I want to be able to hunt out past 4-500 yards I'm definitely taking a larger cartridge

Thanks all for good discussion. Seems we circle back to PRC for more down range energy and lower drop (which may matter depending upon scope option). I have a 6.5x284, 308, 300wsm and a 338wm so good on hunting rigs. Really considering another 6.5 to play with and see how accurate I can get with hand loads out to 600 (range limit). Recoil not a big deal but no need for more energy or potential pronghorn etc hunting. Def more of a short hair guy...flat top in college, but may have to get some hair extensions for the mandatory man-bun 😂
Maybe "CM Man-buns" can be a new thread!
Cheers y'all
