257 Build?

IMO, the Creed case is vastly superior to the .22-250 of any flavor. The small primer Lapua is hell for stout. Lets you explore velocities you'd have trouble with in a ..250 savage case, improved or not. Seems to be a lot of folks are anti Creedmoor, again, imo, they are missing out on some great projects... Rename it if you must !

The 25 Creedmoor is my favorite, til I get another donor rifle, for a larger cartridge build?

If you're thinking 257 Roberts, you'd be better going Creedmoor or Lapua x47 case, for modern SRP brass. .257 caliber in this LRP brass case size, are very high pressure, which expand the LRP web after one firing.

The 131BJ is an awesome bullet at 1000 yards holding velocity/drift/trajectory/energy, starting at a mild 2950fps Creedmoor speed. I would suspect the new Bergers will be the same.

I currently own a 25 creed ans would like to add another 25 something to the line up. Was thinking a 25 blackjack, saum or western. The creed is sweet. 131's at 2920 fps, and dropped two whitetail last season 535 ans 550View attachment 266056View attachment 266057
What length barrel and powder are you using?

I have a 22inch 25creed that should land home any time now

One reason I'm thinking the 25 WSM. Larger case head diameter will better support the large rifle primer pocket than a smaller diameter case head.

That, and another big reason is the barrel I'm going to use is currently chambered for the 25-300RUM. So the 25 WSM will preserve the maximum length of breech on my barrel. The 25 WSM cartridge is the same diameter as my 25-300 RUM chamber.

As you may allready know the parent case to the 257 Roberts is the 7x57 mauser then the 6mm Rem a very inherently acc case for all those diff cal that being said the longer and heavier for the 25 cal bullets I was you I would research and find out what my max oal would be for the short action reguardless of what case I decided on for your custom 25 cal build you dont want to be ham stringed on oal if your going to use heavier and longer bullets especially the hammer bullets good luck on your decision

This is the fashion in which I intended to reply:

As you may allready know the parent case for the 257 Roberts is the7x57 Mauser that is also the parent case to the 6mm Rem which are all inherently accurate cartridges the 257 Roberts AI would ba a good choice but before I chose a particular case for a 25 cal build I would research what my oal would be for the long and heavy for cal bullets that are being offered especially the Hammer bullets thats one you wouldnt want to miss out on the short action might cause some oal issues so be careful and do your research before deciding good luck

I own a .257AI and love it. It was built many years ago with a standard twist barrel at the time. It won't stabilize the heavies that are showing up these days.
If I was to build another quarter bore gun it would be to sling the heavies as fast as possible. So I'd look at at the .25-06, or .257 Weatherby.
