.257 Roberts. Who can ream it to an AI?

Some may take an Ackley reamer and drive it by hand. That method might not make the nicest chamber or even be 'in size', dimeter wise and/or length wise. If you ream it, and get the new 40 deg shoulder established without setting it back, the Ackley chamber will have 'excessive' headspace. The 'conversion' to Ackley is best done using a lathe and by someone who knows how and has done it before.

After 30yrs gunsmithing I have seen some horrendous jobs attempted by gun owners, just because 'they read it on the interdnet'. Some things the 'average' gun owner can do for himself . As "Harry" says, "A man has got to know his limitations". I had a Savage 110, chambered in 270 Win, come into the shop awhile back. The chamber had been hand reamed to AI. It wouldn't fire (because it had been reamed way too deep), it wouldn't extract (because it had been reamed way too deep), and upon examination with the bore scope it had nasty tool marks from shoulder all they way back to the chamber entrance. It would have cost more to fix than the barrel was worth. Had another Savage come in that had its S.S. muzzle brake 'frozen' on to its S.S. carbon fiber wrapped S.S. aftermarket barrel. The owner had decided he didn't care for the brake that came with the rifle and changed it out, without lube on the threads. I was able to save that one, without shortening the barrel. Really, there wasn't enough full diameter muzzle there TO cut-off and re-thread. Don't know what the owner had spent on that aftermarket, carbon fiber wrapped barrel, but he is not known to me to be one to go 'on the cheap' when it comes to his firearms.
