I've got a couple 7s and smaller but am wanting a 30. Gonna be a long range elk gun and want to be push 210s-220s at over 3000 in a factory rifle. I'd shoot the heavier bullets if I could push them to 3000fps. Which one would you choose? Let me know your thoughts. Leaning towards a Bergara or browning but want to keep weight to a minimum. What $1200 rifle would you choose?

I'd go rum. If you have 7s, you want something larger for more energy. A 7 run hard with 180 Bergers matches the 300 prc in energy(factory loads). Don't cheat yourself and go with the big dog. 300 rum is an animal.

I've got a 7 mag shooting 162s then a 28 nosler being built right now that'll shoot 180s

I've heard some Christensen stories too. But there is another long range form where they get excellent reviews so....

My 300 RUM is a Remington with a 28" barrel. I like the 210s. Rifle has taken an antelope at 865 yards and elk at 512. Both dropped in their tracks - one shot kills. Bergers can be very accurate and if you can put it in the right place it will do the job.
300 PRC is probably an excellent round too. ADG makes brass for it now.

28N w/ 180s @ 3150 or so shoot much flatter and hit just as hard as a prc. In your shoes, def go rum. I have a norma improved which runs right with the rum and its pretty impressive.
I'm gonna get some loaded up here soon with the brass and dies I got from ya. Who did your Norma improves for you? That's what I really want but I'll be getting this gun as a bonus from the boss.

It depends. If you want max performance the rum in a good barrel meaning one of the custom barrel makers will rock if you tweak the throat a little. In a factory at least a Remington I had it is not so much. With the ADG brass the 300 prc is very easy to get good results. And even in a wyatts box you will use almost all of it with a prc.

A decent rifle option would be to buy the preferred rem action, grab a remage barrel, and a used remmy stock. A trigger may or may not put you over your budget but it's another good option vs buying factory. This is the route I go. Best wishes.
