Which Crtrdg- Short barrel do everything hunting rifle?

when you fireform use a stout enough load to form the case good. If you run your finger over the primer and it is sticking out load more powder.

Thinking about this. Buy some lapua 06 cases and open them to 35. Then to 375. Then size then run them in the die just deep enough so when you turn down the bolt it takes force.

I did this with 7-08ai. Took 308 brass and neck sized just enough to where the 308 portion of the neck created a shoulder of sorts to create a tight fit while fireforming. Probably not hornady's brass fault....

0 headspace
Another thought. Have somebody set the barrel back a little and have then run in a 35 whelen ack imp. 50 to 100 fps more speed and very positive headspace. I think slow sometimes. Maybe the Remington and Hornady were not consistent in the headspace. I have seen Winchester 338 mag brass that was horrible in the neck shoulder junction. When fired it was an 1/8 an inch forward of where it was at the shoulder. That has a belt so it really didn,t matter but still.

I have done everything you have mentioned and still have issues with unfired brass, mainly remington and hornady. I have made a false shoulder as mentioned with a 375 expander as well, same problem. To jam the bullets in the lands it has to be seated way out there, plus jamming will increase pressure- that case head sep was not jammed. I have had the barrel set back and same issue. checked with go/nogo gauges. I don't want to spend anymore time or money on the 35 whelen.

So at this point I'm going to rebarrel it and go 9.3x62 for an upcoming Africa trip. for AK I will replace it with the 338 short mag I decide to go with.

I understand your frustration. I have a big wildcat. 338x416 rigby improved. Similar to a Pegasus. Anyway, Forming brass the norma worked great. Hornady a 50% loss rate because the shoulders were so soft they would collapse when trying to neck them down. I suggested jamming to form brass. Not to use in the field. Maybe Winchester or lapua brass. I know they are tough. But if you have given up on it I guess it doesn,t matter. Good luck in Africa. I have been and it was wonderful!!

what action are you using? A have a new Mcgown chrome moly barrel threaded for a mauser that is new gathering dust. If you are putting it on a rem ,sav, or Winchester your smith could turn the threads off and still thread to your action. It is already chambered to 9.3x62 by McGown. Your smith would still need a reamer to set headspace but I would give you a good price for it

I saw some pictures today on here of guys using hammers and the damage they did. WOW I see they make one for the 9.3. What animals will you be going after?

It's a ruger m77 mII stainless. Africa is still a year and half out. Am hoping to be able to shoot a Cape buffalo with a 9.3x62. A couple PH said it should be fine.
