Seems kinda like remimgtons business model. Develope a cartridge, generate enough interest to sell rifles and ammo for about 5 years, abandon it over the next 5, repeat.

I have both. My Creedmoor is a GAP 22 inch proof barrel and my 260 is a 22 inch Hart barrel. Both shoot .3's and both shoot within 20fps of each other. The GAP likes the 143eld and the hart barrel likes the 142 SMK but both use H4350. I think either chambering is fine but the marketing support and available ammo has to go to the Creedmoor at this time along with availability of factory rifles. Other than that, there is really not much difference in them once you hand load and get lapua brass for both in my humble opinion. I'm still a big fan of the 260 but I have the 6.5 and 6mm creedmoor rifles also. Find a good deal on either one and shoot it and don't worry about the marketing hype.

Lots of emotion expressed here, but also a little light. Advertising promoting the Creedmoor especially pushed the 30 degree shoulder. That's fine and does help with reducing Case lengthening and also handling higher pressures when handloading. Anybody with a 40 degree shoulder cartridge is aware of this benefit. 6.5's deserve a 1-8 twist for the facts previously mentioned. Even old Military 6.5 Swedes had a fast twist back when the conversion was from black powder cartridges. There is also this tiny factor. The Creedmoor in being shot by relatively new shooters, recoil is relatively mild. Therefore a lot more popular for this reason more than any other!

I remember when I sent an email to Hornady about loading for 260 Rem back in 1997. They said they wanted to wait and see how it would do. I told them well if y'all don't load for them then probably not very well cause y'all are the leading Ammo manufacture. The 6.5 CM is not better in any way and Hornady knows this. Why do you thank they only load 130 grain bullets for 260 Rem. It's because the 260 will out shine the 6.5 CM grain for grain. Hornady designed the 6.5 CM so why would they hurt themselves. That's why they introduced the 6.5 PRC. It just mocks the 260 Rem performance. It's just a marketing thang. If you don't reload than get the 6.5 CM. But if you reload then you will be more happy with 260 Rem. I have a 260 Rem and 6.5 CM because I wanted to see what all the craze was about. Huge let down. 6.5 CM is about 250 FPS slower than my 260 Rem 140 VLD vs 140 VLD.

My .260 Sako with its standard 8:1 twist out shoots my friend's 6.5 Creed any time at the range. Flatter and faster with more cartridge capacity. It is why I bought it.6.5 CM ammo is way more accurate 260 ammo....
Also, SAAMI spec for old school 260 is a 9 twist. The superior 6.5 CM SAAMI spec is an 8 twist which stabilizes heavy for caliber bullets (like the 140s) better.
The consumer has spoken. It is not the magazine articles. IMO anyways.
