Re 26 in 300 Rum

Guys are also getting ~100fps more than retumbo and H1000 with N570 with the heavier bullets. Steve at Hammer has also found this to be the case. I run the 143 Hammer at 3,600+ in the 7 RUM with RL26 but I don't think you will get a good case filling with the heavier bullets.

I have some N570 to try in the cases I mentioned also. Steve said he couldn't get enough in the 300 Rum.

91.5 was 3300 fps
92 was 3300 fps with ejector swipe
92.5 was 3330 with ejector swipe.

I would of guessed more powder than that before pressure ??? hmmmm.... good to know.

Me too. Its fairly accurate 90,91,91.5 all together but i was disappointed with speed before getting ejector swipes. ADG brass prob would do better but pressure is pressure. Gonna try another powder. H1000, retumbo, reloder 25, ramshot magnum, imr 7828, any suggestions on chasing and accurate load approaching 3400 with the 181 hammer hunter?

With my previous 300 rum mod 700 back in 99 i was able to run 96 gr of 25 in front of an sst at 3410 and shot bughole groups. But i wouldnt hunt with that bullet. Susequent lots of 25 didnt give me that speed and accuracy without some quirks. I ended up running 200 ab with 25 at 3175. A wonderful load my nephew still uses presently in that rifle.

Steve says H1000. N570 not enough room. Retumbo too maybe. Had some luck with IMR 8133. RL33 no room. For some reason I've been thinking N565 . Maybe N560 or IMR 7977 ? I have them all but not much time. For some reason it seems to all come back to H1000. Don't know. If i was retired ... lol

I'm definitely going to try it. Retumbo has always been by best powder. Just don't know with the 181 Hammer. H1000 was more accurate . Velocities weren't much different .Going to bed. Sleep well.

Ha ha I've done the chase the powder game also and I always run back to H1K or retumbo, specially h1000 its easy to get easy to load with temps don't effect it at all, very clean burning and heck its the powder which all others are compared to these days honestly. ….. my load with h1000 is 3320 and I would put a fresh Benji on the fact that with retumbo you'd see 3400... wait in fact I know you would because I had a buddies 300 rum running over 3400 with 180 accubonds and this is all in norma brass which at present is my favorite for the 300 rum .. because its readily available and it show the pressure where it should be.

I mean that's why we do it to see If there is in fact a better mouse trap but .. when that mouse trap never fails its really hard to set brand X and hope it works!!! LOL
