I am about to embark upon same. 300 rum, 181 hh, nosler brass, rl26. Im gonna try 89 to 94 gr working up carefully to see where i get with velocity and pressure. Optimistic to hit 3400 but who knows? My oal is 3.722. Fierce fury 26" barrel
 
I have been playing with the 181s also, the best so far has been with H1000.

Been getting around 3350-3375 with the H1000

The rifle I am shooting is a Montana Rifle Co. with a very thin barrel, you can only shoot about 3-4 rounds before the barrel is over heated. It shoots pretty good, not where I want it.

I ordered a new #5 Bull Sporter Krieger barrel last week, should be here around the first of the year if I am lucky.

I am going to try a couple loads with the RE26 to see if it has any potiential.
Then I am going to hold off on doing any more load development till I get the new barrel.
 
I havn't tried the Hammers with Retumbo.

Tried the Retumbo with 180 TTSXs, did not fair to well. Maybe I should try some with the Hammer's.

I love the RE series of powders, the RE 25 worked great in my buddies 300 Rum (Remington). That is why I am hoping the 26 will work.
 
I used RL26 in my last 300rum with 150 ttsx and it was awesome. Crazy accurate and chronied at 3675 FPS.
Lazer beam to 500 yards.

That is the range of bullets I want to shoot. I am not a fan of the big 30 cals. The 180s hit hard enough to kill anything I will hunt well past 600 yards.

Hey Randy , no I did not try with heavier bullets. I was trying retumbo with every bullet I had and then one day I decided to try light and fast.
I used 92 gr with the 150s so you should be ok to start lower and run up to pressure in your gun. I can't say what your max loads will be with 180 gr but I would say start around 85gr and work up.

Steve says H1000 has worked best with the 181. N570 and RL33 you will run out of case before you reach max load .
I got ave. 3173 with 94.0 grs. Retumbo. Was most accurate .
94.5 ave. 3182
95.0 ave. 3201. No pressure signs on all 3 loads.
98.0 grs. RL33 ave. 2979. Too mild. Didn't shoot well either.
97.0 grs. IMR8133 ave. 3203. No pressure. Shot ok.
94.0 grs. H1000 ave. 3243. Shot good. No pressure. I had up to 97.0 grs. To try but haven't yet. Recently found some RL26 but haven't tested yet. I have high hopes though. Will probably try N570 even though Steve said he ran out of room in case. Maybe try N565 or N560.
