Recently had some loading and feeding issues with my rifle and sent it to my gunsmith for examination.

Unbeknownst to me he re-barreled my rifle without my permission. I was a bit upset but nothing I can do now.

Spare me the "what I would've done" crap as I'm already just barely over it.

I traded a LILJA 3 grove 10 twist tack driver for a X-Caliber 5R 10 twist In 300WM of course but i just got it and haven't shot it yet.

has anyone had any actual experience with them?

this is a fresh wound so tread lightly...

A buddy of mine is a pretty decent local PRS shooter who's sponsored by X-Caliber; I think he's on his 7th 1-7" twist 6mm barrel from them now. All of them have been .3 MOA or less (some significantly less) with his same match load in the 6x47 Lapua. They seem to foul a bit more than other barrels, but he rarely cleans his gun so it's not an issue for him.

I think it will work out alright for you. It may not shoot to BR levels but it will likely shoot very well. Good luck and sorry to hear about your situation.

How does a gunsmith go and rebarrel your rifle w/o consent? Especially when a company like bugholes or northland shooter usually has quality blanks in stock? Xcaliber wouldn't have been my first choice. I've read good things and some not so good things, they do stand behind their products and will get you fixed up if it doesn't shoot.

I have 3 of them and they are all good shooters, borescope shows they are not lapped like a top shelf barrel but these were not not top shelf price.
Did you at least get your old barrel back ? There is no reason you shouldn't. Why not just put the old barrel back on ? If you get time please explain how the %%$# your gun got rebarreled without you asking.
This has got to be a great story about how you got a free barrel. Or something...
LOL

****! That's a real bummer to say the least. I am not a expert, but was the barrel the problem? I hope this works out best for you. I would not be happy either,

I have a X barrel .260 AI 5R 8 twist 24 inch new being installed Tuesday in a Savage 110 FCP. Changing out the almost new factory .308 medium bull fluted threaded. I just like that .260AI.

Is he a little short guy? Maybe a terrible FedEx driver?

Over priced fire forming barrels, I've sorted through so many of them it's stupid to find a decent one or two, won't accept them anymore!!!
