Looking for a new rangefinder. I currently have the sig 2000 and it has been pretty decent but looking to upgrade. My buddy has the Nikon 4000 and it has been pretty decent to 900 on game and 1200 on steel but looking for a little more. Any suggestions on a rangefinder that will range game to 1,000+ and steel to 1760 Budget is Looking to stay under 2k if possible.

I bought the vectronix terrapin x and couldn't be happier. 1 mile is a chip shot on a sunny day with it. At dusk/dawn/ or cloud cover it'll range out to 2500+ yards. I don't know if it'll go farther because I haven't tried. Plus I LOVE the Bluetooth integration with my kestrel. I range the target and boom, the dope is on the kestrel instantly.

The new Leica 2800.com is my next one! I've always been pleased with the hunting performance of the Leica for the money.
The vectonix has been very good when they work but after the horrible service they provided with the terrapin and then kicking this market to the curb when things started failing they'll never see a dollar from me!!

I have looked at the vectronix and was seriously considering it. Didn't know anything about the customer service or anything else they have done.
I have played with the 1600 Leica and really wasn't that impressed with the ranging capabilities (maybe my buddy had a dud or batteries were low idk) but glass was really nice. Any ideas on the ranging capabilities of the 2800.
Canhunter How consistent is your leupold. I have the 1600 that I use for archery and really like for that purpose but if the 2800 is ranging deer consistently at 1800 then they have upgraded the ranging capabilities considerably.

For a rangefinder that's only used to provide ranges at the extreme end of what anyone can use, the Terrapin and Terrapin X are really hard to beat. I like the look of that Leica 2800 though. I have a Terrapin and my only issue with it is the size. It's awfully fun ranging spots past 4500 yards when the conditions are perfect.
The range to that far landing was consistently within 2 yards after ranging it 5 time.

4928 yards. That is ridiculous and exactly what kind of performance I'm looking for. Lol.
I would like to know more about what vectronix did to turn their backs on us bc I do like to support companies that support our sport in return.

It pretty consistent, dawn/dusk too, inside of 2k it seems I can range anything. I'm impressed with it, does what I need for sure

I have the lieca 1600b and the geovids hdb 3000. Your friend must ya e had low battery or something my 1600b has been rock solid on everything. It's alwyas spot on. Was the only thing I ever doubted spending more money on compared to Nikon or vortex. But after having it in the field side by side with others it's a step above for sure.
I believe there were issues with warranty support a few years back. It was more the fault of Vetronix's US counterpart than Vetronix though. The original Terrapins did only come with a 1 year warranty though which is pretty poor for a $2000 product. I've had mine for about 5 years though with no problems at all and I know 3 others with original Terrapins and they haven't had any issues either.
I've played with the Terrapin X and in some ways it was better than the original Terrapin, but I wouldn't sell my current Terrapin to rush out and buy the newer version. In ideal conditions, my Terrapin out ranged the X, but in poor conditions the X did better. Add the extra features of the X and it's really a pretty good deal.

One story I read was about a Terrapin that quit working. The owner sent it in for repair and Vectronix told him it would cost $800 for them to look at it and it would cost some additional amount to repair. I think the $800 fee just to look at what might be wrong with it got people spun up.
