subsonic hunting loads for 308win?

shurely one of these lighter 174gr or 168gr lehigh max expansion projectiles should stabilize in a 1:10 twist ...anyone try yet....so far the 194gr has taken 5 deer....i honestly don't think there will be much terminal difference....it's more like a bow kill than shock

Not a .308, but for my 7mm-08, I load 160 gr. Sierra Gamekings over 10 gr. of Trail Boss and get @ 1050 fps out of a 22 inch barrel of my TC Venture compact. Very quiet with my Silencerco Harvester 30.20161203_084222.jpg

I am running 12 grains of trailboss with a 200 maker and 10 grains of 231 Winchester powder with a 220 outlaw bullet. Mine is a 1 in 8 twist Krieger. Also, I am running Winchester mag primers.

here is a link to hodgdon H4895 reduced loads . it explains how to reduce the powder charge using the 60% rule .

I've loaded reduced loads for a couple of new shooters , one of these used a 308 . I never tried using heavy bullets , lighter ones should be less recoil and higher velocity . I used a nosler 125 gr ballistic tip and IMR 4198 powder . I got the info from a old speer book , volume #13 I think . if you want that info I can look it up for you . this load was lower recoil than the H4895 produced .
