I'm really interested in heavy 69+ bullets that will fit AR mag. I need a new powder to start. I've used RL7, BLC2, Varget, mostly Varget, but I think I need something faster for the small area inside the case after seating those long bullets. Would love to hear what you think.

68grn Hornady Match pushed by Varget. Sub Moa @ 100yds with my 16" Stag & 4x scope. Shoots well in a multiple AR's & even a couple bolt guns.

62gr Speer FMJBT with H335. Same velocity (2950fps) and bullet weight as military M855 BALL. Shoots sub MOA out of a Bushmaster XM15 Patrolman carbine with 16" barrel 1-9 twist. For heavy bullets, shoot 69gr SMK with H335.

69 Grainer of your choice on top of 24 grains +/- a 10ths or two of 8208 XBR seated to 2.255 should get you exactly what you're looking for, that is if you're looking for 1/2 MOA or better 5-10 shot groups.

Or, for heavier bullets in the 75-77 range use 23.3 grains +/- a couple 10ths of 8208 XBR for outstanding results.

Same results for me with a DPMS 24" using Varget 24 1/2 grs for the 69 and 24grs using the 75-77

There was a standard match load I found: Win cases, Rem 7.5 primers, 69 gr. Match Kings, over 25-25.5 gr of RL-15.

In my 20" this was 1/2", with ca. 2900 FPS

I don't know what 20" you have but around 2700 fps is usually the accuracy velocity. 2900 is over max. good luck with that speedster. ART

I have a 20" RRA with the Wylde chamber. I found this load in the Alliant catalog, which lists the max as 25.5 gr with the 69 gr. Matchking at 2956 fps with RL-15.

Sierra also lists a max load for a standard 1:7/16" AR, of 25.7 gr with the same bullet and RL-15.

I tried loads from 24 up to 25 gr, and settled on the 25.

Check out the link below for a number of service rifle loads, mostly with heavier bullets...

I know this is a really old thread but here goes anyway

75 grain BTHP
Lake City case full length sized and trimmed to 1.75
25.2 grains of AA2520
Wolf small rifle magnum primer (Wolf small magnum primers have the same charge as their regular small rifle primers. They just have a harder cup for semi auto's)
