They are on the north side. Montana . We went up to Mammoth Hot Springs. Got to there. I live 52 mi. From east enterence

They drop their calves starting in May I noticed. I saw small ones and some a little bigger. Figured May and June calves. I don't know when Bison rut is but I'd guess more like Sept. or Oct..

The things that some people do just boggles my mind. Bison are massive animals and mostly are content. But cows with young or bulls can be unpredictable. Those that try to get in their faces for a photo op are just asking for trouble.
I had two successful archery hunts for bison and not only are they big but they're tough.

It's always amazed me the bison rut timing. I don't know how the bulls can expend that much energy at the hottest time of the year. Tough critters.
