I've heard alot about the xp100 and was wondering if you can buy these new or are all of them old ones that just keep getting rebarreled. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I heard that you cant use a rifle action for a pistol so do they make any xp100 in pistol actions any more?

Rem. no longer makes them. You will have to look in the used market to get a XP-100.

Couldn't you use a new as yet unused action like a Borden, Surgeon or whatever to make a pistol since it has never been a rifle?

I would think so.Not really sure what the laws are on,say,using an XR take off as the base for a pistol build.
HS Precision also makes a pistol like the XP and so does Weatherby,but again,not cheap.

Last I knew, according to ATF, an action has to be originally registered by the manufacturer as a rifle or pistol and then used as such. To use an XR to build a pistol is illegal and to use an XP to build a rifle is also illegal, although it has been done extensively in the benchrest world.

It is NOT illegal to build a rifle on an XP-100 action. It IS illegal to build a pistol on an XR action.
