Me and a couple buddies are pitching in on a rifle for a 15 year old young man. He doesn't have much for family, but he's a good kid that loves going hunting so we take him. He's a big guy (6'3" 190 lbs in really good shape) We'll be hunting elk, deer, and antelope, but he won't be shooting past 200 for now. I'd love a winchester model 70 in a 270 or something comparable as long as ammo is available.....600.00 is what we have....that might be a stretch.....remingtion 700 would be good...but no sps type stuff.

thanks for looking.

Try snipershide.com, they just had a savage 110 in 270 win that was 200 asking

Because it is his money and he can buy what he wants. Not sure why guys have to get a guys post off topic.

What about the tc venture you can buy them on gun broker for under 400 and they have a 75 mail in rebate right now good shooters for the money

Just bought a model 70 a couple weeks ago. The sporter or the extreme weather versions would be a bit over $600, but it's the best off the shelf rifle I have seen in a while. Certainly better than anything Remington or Ruger is producing lately. The MOA trigger is for real.

Not sure if this would be of interest but my nephew has a like new stevens savage in 270 with a nikon prostaff bdc scope on it. The stock is flat dark earth i believe. If your interested shoot me a pm, can be shipped well under your budget.

+1!

My buddy had the similar rifle in .300 WM and bagged his 1st MT bull elk on his 2nd year hunting with us.

To the OP,

Thank you kindly for taking care of the young hunter who otherwise might not get the opportunity to hunt.

It's always nice to hear stories as such. Since my boys are all grown up, I take airmen from my squadron at the range and afield, most of which are 1st time hunters with my rifles and on my dime ... all they have to do is show up with a license. :D

This year, my buddy and I are taking her daughter (an NCO in the USAF stationed at Malmstrom AFB) for her 1st hunt. Needless to say, we are both very excited.

I'm sure you'll get many happy returns from him and besides with his size he can probably haul the elk by himself.

Good luck and thanks again.

Ed

They are very underrated and but very good buy not to mention they are shooters too.

I steered some friends towards the TC Venture (3 in .270 Win, 1 in .308 Win, and 2 in .300 Win) and they are very pleased with them.

morning, to ONPOINT. i was not changing the subject. the young man said at

the end of his msg. no sps. this was not to b offensive, i ask a simple

question and gave witness to the accuracy fact of the sps. i know this was the

young mans money. learn to read the whole msg. u might learn something
