Winter "Bulk" Reloading?

Been recovering from a bout of the flu and we've had the coldest start to the year in 15 years so there is nothing to be done outside.

I'm at about 4K rounds reloaded in the past month, including ~1K of rifle (mostly for pdogs).

A 50cal ammo can holds ~2K of 9mm...

I bought 600 pcs of 1x PMC 223 brass. Had about that much more from last year. Since New Years, I have been processing it. I enjoy it for the most part, but really hate loading 223. Big fat fingers and tiny bullets and brass don't work so well. I have had more "malfunctions" with dies while de-capping/sizing 223 than all of the remainder of brass I have ever handled.

Brass prep is the worst - really not much else to do when the range has over 14" of snow.

14 inches of snow? All I'm hearing is "Really easy to identify LR targets" and "Perfect recipe for tannerite filled snowmen"

Fat fingers and left-handed, too! Smallest I load is 7mm. I don't even try to load 9mm pistol shells. Buy 'em loaded in bulk.

Finished prepping a large batch of 300 BLK. Ended up sizing and priming 950 cases.

I can relate to the "fat fingers comment. Many years ago I went from loading 300 grain .375 caliber to 55 grain .223's.

It was not a "seamless" transition…..I had one heck of a time holding on to those tiny little things! memtb

Absolutely. 223 is the only round I've ever stuck in a die and ripped the thin rim off. They have a habit of retaining a steel pin in the primer hole, if not careful the weak depriming rods tend to bend before the depriming pin snaps, I always keep a few on hand. I once did a run of 2000 rounds, went through 3 depriming rods.

Absolutely. 223 is the only round I've ever stuck in a die and ripped the thin rim off. They have a habit of retaining a steel pin in the primer hole, if not careful the weak depriming rods tend to bend before the depriming pin snaps, I always keep a few on hand. I once did a run of 2000 rounds, went through 3 depriming rods.

I keep a bag of depriming pins for 223/556 and 308/7.62 because of the crimped primers
