Winter "Bulk" Reloading?

Typically for me, this time of year, January-March, has been dedicated to large volume reloading for the coming warmer weather shooting and varmint seasons, and while some things may have changed somewhat due to shortages, price increases, etc, I still enjoy large quantities of components that were purchased through the years and casting a lot of lead handgun and some rifle bullets.

So, I have been pumping out a lot of 20P, 222, 223, 22-250 and AI for the coming prairie dog, other varmint and fun shoots, and in lesser amounts, 243, 6mm and 25-06 for some longer shots or larger varmints and game. Along with the rifle rounds, the Dillions have been cranking out bulk 9mm, 38Super, 9x23Win, 38Sp, 357, 44Sp, 44Mag, 45ACP and 45LC.

While not much now due to various reasons, I also used this time of year to load several thousands of shot shells for skeet and trap seasons and the fall dove shoots.

Anyone else use this time of year to "bulk load" for the coming warmer weather?

How do you find time to do all of that?

I usually do mass brass prep during the coldest days of winter but this year has been totally different

This is the perfect time to catch up on some reloading. I don't know if I would say mass reloading, but maybe a slow continuous procession of working thru / preparing my brass "collection" to marry up the brass with the necessary components.

I did a little cold weather testing today myself in the 30* temps…

I don't load a lot of ammo in the winter months- the summer temps can be hazardous to your health on some powders.
I usually load it when I need it..
What I do have is winter & summer loads..that are preloaded..

Never know when a crow or varmint is gonna be out…

Sure is a nice time of year to fire-form brass. -21F ambient currently, barrels cool pretty fast....

The only thing I really load in bulk is 223Rem. I like to have a pretty good number of those ready to go. Just about everything else, 50-100 loaded at any given time is plenty. I do however like to have brass prepped (trimmed, annealed, and sized) so a guy can just prime, charge, and seat a bullet.

Retired, but even before, it was my major hobby/sport, so I made time. While not a much as I once did, I burn a lot of ammo on a annul basis.

And I thought that I was really "stepping up" my game by taking our rifles out of the safe and doing some "pre spring" cleaning!

First time some have been out of the safe in years, but……I am a bit of an "overachiever"! memtb

Honestly that's my favorite shooting. I do love to hunt but that's more about hunting than shooting. PDs are all about shootiing

There isn't much like good days on well populated dog towns. Its even better with a friend or two and challenging each other on those long shots.

I gotta admit- my testing yesterday-
I was shaking like leaf on oak tree, eyes watering..
I got 3 touching, the supressor wasn't even hot.. I came back in, put everything up, never went back to the shop!!!

Too dang cold !!

I'll hold off to warmer temperatures before " pre loading" anymore…., I figure at the moment 25rds is enough…
